I don't remember who told me this at Moonshine '10 but thanks to the rider who did. It really helped.
My X-11 has gotten quite a bit of wind noise lately. Seems to be much louder than it was new. I was told a story about a free visor adjustment at a motorcycle event by the Shoei booth that eliminated the excessive wind noise.
If the visor does not lay against the seals correctly, the helmet will get noisy. A visor/shield adjustment may reduce the noise and make the helmet quiet again. It worked for me.
I used a penny for the two adjustment screws per side, loosened them just enough so that the visor mounts could slide with medium firm pressure. After closing the visor/shield and pressing against the gaskets, I carefully removed the shield without disturbing the mount assembly and tightened the screws down firmly. My first test ride after the adjustment on my XR (usually very loud due to the wind noise) resulted in a much quieter, peaceful ride with about a 60%-75% drop in wind noise.
I'm just trying to pay the information forward in the hopes that it will help someone else.
