Lost/missing sockets

I would have recommended a deep socket.

They can have their downside.

I was helping SIL with his e-bike. We stripped off the wheels and replaced the rotors, calipers, new hydraulic brake lines, the works. Upon reassembly was missing a threaded lock nut / spacer for the axle and we looked everywhere for it. Show stopper. 30 minutes later it occured to me to look in the deep socket and, sure enough, it was there wedged in near the bottom.

There are deep sockets and there are deep-well sockets.
All deep-well sockets are deep sockets, but not all deep sockets are deep-well sockets. If you had used a deep socket that was not a deep-well socket you would not have had that problem.

Clear as mud?

Yeah...
Had a moment wondering why on earth Honda would have changed to a vandalism defensing design on brake pad pins...
