Last week my 1300 started popping like hell on deceleration-typical with a Harley after someone changes pipes and A/C without re-jetting or re-mapping the computer. At first I thought I'd lost the baffle for one of the Delcokics, but nope. So like a dummy, I started looking for the hardest thing first-went in after the nest of vacuum tubes and and connectors-NSF. 1 carb slightly outa sync, re-synced, nope still popped. Finally went where I should have started-right hand muffler. Loosened bolts and got it to go in about another 1/4"-no more pop. Word to the wise-start with the easy stuff first.
Then to make matters worse, a friend luckily noticed a chunk missing from my rear tire-complete with busted cords sticking thru. Sure as hell don't remember hitting anything, but I musta. Call to Two Bros, Ernie said no luck finding a PR2 in California-3-4 days to get one, so had to bite the bullet and pop for one locally (at a $50 premium counting Cycle Gear's price and tax-where's my discount tire coupon when I need it?). I wasn't quite so mad when I checked the mileage on the AVON Storm 2-almost 11K on it. Only 6K on the front, I'll replace with a PR2 when it's toast.
