Just joined the club, some issues

Here is a thread that may help.

Ok... So... I checked the 24 pin connector. Its greasy and probably gonna need to clean it but so far it looks ok. I still have no tach or change in the LCD screen after somewhat cleaning the connection and wiggling the connector behind the cluster...

It sounds like you may have a potential grounding issue somewhere on the bike. I am not expert on the electrical grounding problems so maybe some one else can jump in here and help you figure this out.
You were able to get the bike started correct?

Plus the trauma of the head-on collision may have introduced new fail sites that an unwrecked bike wouldn't have. So your work may not end with checking the usual locations mentioned in the advice you'll find here.

Love the bat-wing fairing on the bike, btw. Share more pictures please!

Yes it runs now... But have no info from any of the cluster gauges or lights

Thanks. Will share some pics later today. Since if fell off a ramp the bat wing was pretty much busted... Got it off now. Trying to sort our some wiring and working on a shelf to hild the cluster and looking for ideas for a windshield... Its going to end up With a somewhat naked/street fighter look to the front end but want to have some wind protection and house a decent light and hide all the wiring... Any ideas? Lol

So.... I jave a fuse that keep blowing and I cant find a schematic that I can actually read that says where it goes and the color code for the wires... 10amp in the left side fuse box. On top of the box it says position meter light tail... As soon as I turn on the ignition it blows... Any ideas?

So been looking and slowly checking on different things... Somewhere in the wire harness from the 24 pin connector forward is a short that keeps blowing a 10amp fuse labeled position, meter, light tail...
I can't find a pinout label for the 24 pin connector... Any ideas on what wire or wires that fuse supply power to?

Went so far as to take the rear lights out to check for a bad wire...

Do you have a Honda service manual yet?
They have several large diagrams of the wiring and connectors in the back pages.
I believe you can probably down load one on line, or perhaps someone can send you a scanned picture of the diagram for you.

Thank you so much. Now that I have the wiring issue sorted (for the most part) I have a question about the cluster display... I want to use the original cluster board but the wires were cut and im told it was a little wonky when last used the bike has under 35k miles on it but the used cluster has 60k+ miles... Would the display hold the milage or is that in the circuit board itself...?

So after a few years of making due ... Going through life's ups and downs, making my beloved ST at least ridable... I am now getting to where I can put her all back together.... It's been a weird few years with people asking what kind of bike it is and only a handful knowing what it is... Several humiliating moments with her dying on me at intersections and hard take offs... Found out that the bank angle sensor was poorly placed so I got rid of it all together by bridging 2 wires, having eaten an enormous amount of insects on some long rides, and just touring when and where I can, I am almost there... Fabbed a small dash to help make it look somewhat decent and keep track of speed and when I'm in neutral lol, repairing a botched welding job that I paid someone to do and in the end just did it myself, it's not pretty but it's solid. Being short on funds I even built a backrest and work table to go the the rear mounting plate cuz the Mrs. said she needed something to rest on and keep her on the bike when being childish with the throttle, I also needed a small table or shelf when we traveled. It's sorta sad that the parts I needed to rebuild her are so damn expensive here in the US and cheaper to buy from the UK with shipping. But there almost here. Waiting on a set of crash bars and together she goes. Still having clutch issues after rebuilding the clutch slave cylinder and bleeding it several times, I found a new on that I thought I had lost so that's going in, after talking with Larry, I'm going to switch oil and see if that helps the bike from creeping when's it's warmed up and clutch pulled in...

It's been a labor of love but I'm not stopping till she looks like she's supposed to and rides smooth as silk. This site has been amazing with all the articles and just the back and forth with all the members. You all have been so helpful! Thanks to all !

I attached a few pictures to see what's she looked like when bought, when cobbled together and as she's about to go back to looking stock.

Comments and criticisms are welcome and thanks again everyone!

AJ
