JC Whitney Top Box

Those look like they come out of the same factory as the Bestem top box, which was discussed at length in this thread. I'm not positive, but I think Bestem may have offered that style for a time. You'll find the same case offered by a number of vendors with a different emblem stuck in the circle on the top.

The bottom line is that for what they cost, they're not bad, and compared to the cost of a Givi (~$375 with bracket), you could go through four of them and break even. My only gripe with the Bestem was the mounting arrangements, which required adapting to fit the bike.

Blrfl is right about the mounting system. It's pretty crude and takes some modification to use it. A Givi bracket will work with it, but it takes a little persuasion to make the box fit onto it, and does not easily come off once its on.
However, it your only going to use it twice a year, its fine. Mine stays on all the time.

I had one on my ST1100. For the money, I thought it was pretty good. I used it for four years with no problems. I was in and out of it almost daily as I commute to work on my bike. I did have to modify the mounting bracket a bit (drill some new holes and grind some height off of some of the bolts). I didn't like the bright orange trim. Looked cheap. So, I got some Krylon Fusion paint (which is made to work with plastic) in dark gray metallic and repainted it. Looked pretty good.

Personally, I just whent with the Bestem. It had the integrated brake light on top... Plus, wait there is more, it also came with a second set of black plastic to wrap around in place of the safety orange.

I saw they were listed on ebay, but also found them on Amazon. The free shipping on Amazon made up for the slightly cheaper price on ebay.

Order today, operators are standing by...

PS Just realized the JC box is 31 liters. The Bestem I purchased was 42 or 46 I do believe.
