Good day, new guy here, residing in South Africa.

Currently I am on a 2015 NC750. Lovely little bike, but a bit underpowered for both the wife and me.

I am looking at buying a 2008 ST (110 000 km), and had a look on the forum for any issues that these bikes might have. The only comments I found, was from 2010 / 2011, and generally it was good, apart from warnings that cops would love you!

My main concern is parts. Since production has stopped, how is availabilty of parts? I know we here in South Africa is two steps behins the bigger international markets, but still, in general, is parts a concern?

Welcome from the east coast of the US of A.

I no longer own a bike (sad story) but when I did parts were readily obtainable; I had a 2004 ST1300. Some items, specifically accessories like the optional wind deflector kit, can no longer be had for love nor money but I believe all the essential bits are still available. Of course, I believe most people are innately good and kind and generous, so you may want to temper my assertion with a degree of skepticism.

I have a 2008 ST. OEM parts are still available, the only hassle I have encountered is sometimes you have to wait for a batch to be created and shipped if your local haunts don't have them in stock (this happened to me with ABS pulser rings - 3mos wait). Welcome to the group, they are an excellent bunch on here.

Welcome from the sunny state of Florida. An issue that comes up a lot with ST1300s is the linked brakes. You will wanna go through them sooner rather than later with the particular interest in the secondary master cylinder and the rear caliper. It’s nothing difficult and there’s a lot of resources on this forum to help you and as far as I know, parts are still available at least in the United States for the brake system.

Welcome to the forum!

Parts are starting to become a problem for the 2003 - 2007 models - the ECU for example is no longer available (which is different than 2008 on). For now it's not a problem for the 2008 and later models, but no telling how long that will be the case.

Welcome to the forum from Cedar City Utah.

If it was a mid 80s V65 Sabre, yeah, I would say finding parts is a problem.

But with the ST1300s, enough were made, new & used parts should be available for a number of years.
