Hi everyone, I own a ST1300 and I have a background in industrial design and I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas or items they might suggest that can be printed on a 3D Printer for our bikes.

I have a nice 3D printer setup and can print the items and test them out and post pics etc. I've designed several items for my bike already and I'm also open to suggestions of what people might like or need and I can possibly design them myself. Some other ideas are to be able to 3D print simple replacement parts for the bike that might be hard to get or expensive.

The possibilities are endless coupled with the new extremely strong carbon fiber printable material options. Since I have a bike, I can easily check fit them too.

Looking forward to peoples ideas and input!

Thanks,

Jason

Some loose the maintenance cover-painted and also they sometimes loose that and the fairing extenders that attach to those.

The maintenance lids I’m sure some are looking for.

I too have a printer, just for hobby though.
Tried to replicate these using a couple scanner apps on my phone. Think I need better editing capabilities for actual parts.
Oh ya thats a great idea! I spent $$$ to replace mine with OEM. Let me see how easy it might be to model it.

Ya that looks easy to make. If you have one that you can lend me for a couple weeks I can model it and make one or if you can send me a CAD drawing of it I can generate a model too.

I have somewhere on my hard drive a 3D file for a windshield gear and another for a simple throttle lock.
My nephew made the throttle lock for me, but the design was too light to effectively hold the throttle.
The files are small, but because of the file extension they won't post here.
If your interested PM me and I see if I can find them.

I was thinking the MX covers as well as the hard rubber wind deflector pieces that go over them. I have one side and was going to try to model it and then mirror image to get the other side but don't have a lot of experience/capability in 3d printing yet to do so. Can send if it would help; neither side are on the bike right now despite it being hot. They just never made it back on after I took them off over the winter to help with heat on cooler days.

Great! I do the same for the ST1100 and lots of other bits when the need arises. Good to have someone to bounce ideas off of!

As already noted, the maintenance covers by the knees are known to fly away. Being held by those weak push-in fasteners is poor choice. So I'd opt for a more secure retainer if it can be done.

Yes if you like PM me and I will see if I can model it and print

Under mirror light brackets
I like the idea of under mirror light brackets and those in particular. But I wonder how well 3D printed kit would hold up under some weight and constant vibration. Some plastic house LEDs might not be a problem but some of the nicer kit have metal housings and have a bit more heft.
