I accomplished a few very small things. I replaced the buggered up side cover screws with new units and replacing the spacer in the front fuel tank mount.

That is the bulk of my accomplishments. I did fix the upper fuel tank sending unit (bad connection) but the fuel gauge still flashes and shows no bars.

I installed the old IAT sensor, that I replaced, and I tested the connection into the ECM but I still get a #9 FI error flash. I have not checked the connection at the injector bank but that requires a lot more digging than I am willing to do at this point. It runs fine so I am just going to ride it for now.

I did take it for a short brisk ride and that was nice.

I can't see how the connections could be mixed up. The wires are color coded, for the IAT sensor and the wires, that come out of the fuel gauge sending unit, are not reversible. I figure that because the bike sat so long outdoors I am probably looking at some form of corrosion in the junction blocks or connectors. It might even be giving false resistance readings. To chaise that demon will require more time than I want to give at the moment.
