I can't PM John directly because he has that feature shut off on his account.

Hopefully he sees this and replies, but while I'm asking,

I have an old 1-1/8" socket, 3/4" drive, with really thick walls. I don't have any real need for it anymore, I bought it years ago to do some suspension work on a truck that I no longer own. I could grind it to match the pattern of the special tool, and I think the remaining metal would be strong enough for the 76 ft-lb torque to remove the locknut. Anybody else done this and had success?

thanks,

Doug

See that attached for a schematic with the dimensions of the swing-arm tool if you want to make one yourself. Quite a few people have made their own using a large socket- Not very difficult.
John does not accept private messages on this site, ever. He will tell you that if you want the loaner kit of tools to register on STOC/ST-Riders-Riders and request it there.

I could grind it to match the pattern of the special tool...
Dunno if its worth the risk of damaging the bolt/pivot in the process...
Plus you need an open one for assembly & torque anyway...

Got me one like this at eBay, works flawless

Did it no problems. Used 1/2 drive.
