I have also been lurking, just like the New Guy From PA. I picked up my 2005 ST1300 from police dept in San Luis Obispo, CA. Most cities ride the heck out of their bikes and ride them very worn out. This particular one only had 27k on it when I picked it up in 2019. I am looking forward to seeing all the posts. My bike is ready for some work and I am in need of the wisdom from your community. I have 80k on the bike now. My purpose for a motorcycle is very utilitarian. I use it for commuting to work. It is my daily driver, rain or shine. Priority to owning this gem, I had a 1998 VFR800. I put 160k miles on it in 20 years of ownership. When done, I took it to the junkyard. It was very worn out. I live my ST. It is a great step up. Thanks for looking. See you all in cyberspace.

Welcome aboard.

Since you have been riding this bike for 5 years, (give or take), as transportation and not so much as pleasure you have either deferred maintenance or been doing regular preventative maint. If the former, I'd suggest you pick up a Service Manual and go through Honda's chart of what should be replaced when, as a good place to start. If you have been doing the minimumm i.e. oil, coolant, battery, tires, brakes, as these things go south, again, the book is a good place to start. You might also read this article for some other ideas what to tackle.

If you have been keeping up with regular preventative maint. then my guess is you want to get the bike back into tip top shape so that you are not caught walking to work. In that case, the above article gives some pointers on 'issues' with these bikes. You can also get all the info you need by asking on the forum about what you suspect the bike may need (you are clearly no neophyte).

Since you need this bike for a daily commuter, you are going to have to plan ahead - taking the fairing off to work on some things will kill an hour (removal and replacing) each time you do this.
