Has anyone had experience stripping the front plastics and adding a headlight and turnsignals to the bike. I don't want to do this but my bike is falling apart in the front end. It is more cost effective to just strip it all away and add an aftermarket headlight / windscreen than replace every plastic.

I was thinking an 83 Magna Headlight and cluster set.. sure the gear indicator is useless but it would add some nostalgia to the bike.

I have no problem showing off this motor. I have no problem rewiring the bike either.
 
Only problem I had was when I was testing my motorcycle this year...because my motor was running warmer than normal. I took several test rides after I did repairs without the side covers and top shelters. It was hotter than heck on my body without the covers to protect me. Just something to look for.
 
A valid concern. I'm used to baking my cards however. I had a kz750 that, during 110 degree days I would ride to and fro work. My thighs were pink and toasty.

I forget the crowd that presides over in these parts.

That pink bike is revolting. I'm searching for a... Came from the factory option. Like an 83 goldwing. I'm not a trendsetter by any means. Just trying to interpret if Honda would have a round headlight on it, or a Street fighter type. A windshield is optional equipment.

Definitely stuff to be taken away from the designs. Probably will ditch the plastic faux covers. Will be rewiring the excessive safety devices built into this bike.
 
I like it. A bit more modified then I imagined but looks sharp. So far I have ordered a kz750 headlight and aftermarket brackets. I need to order new side panels.
 
I have an St I've been riding around naked for a year or so. The bike has been wrecked and many of the attachment points are broken off for the plastics. I have the headlight ziptied on and just keep riding it. It has no resale value and it runs great. I use it for my commuter bike mostly. I had a sidecar on it for a while. all phone pics 9-28-17 070.JPG
 
I'm curious about the 1st picture in post #9 where there seems to be a turbocharger on the stripped down ST. Any more info on that?

Close! It's a 67 fastback. My grandmother owns a 65 fastback. My mother owns a 64 1/2 convertible. Just a soon to be fox efi 302 with a T5 behind her. :)
