I have a Garmin Nuvi 265WT and purchased a Blinc M1 bluetooth device. I could not get the Blinc to pair with the GPS. It paired fine with my phone. I contacted Garmin to see if there were know issues or compatibility problems and this is what was the answer.

The 265WT does not have A2DP.

Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) allows you to stream audio from a mobile phone to a wireless headset or car stereo via a Bluetooth connection.

Garmin devices with A2DP Bluetooth can pair to both a mobile phone and a headset. This allows all audio from both the Garmin device and the mobile phone to be output through the headset.

The following Garmin devices have A2DP technology:

* nuvi 765
* nuvi 775
* nuvi 785
* zumo 660
* zumo 665

After recieving the reponse, I started researching the above GPS. The 765, 775, and 785 are all discontinued. The Zumo is beyond what I would like to spend at this time. I have searched the forum and read alot of comments on the best and type of GPS to purchase.

Is anyone using a GPS other than a Garmin ZUMO that can connect to a bluetooth headset? Music and phone calls are not important to me at this time. I would like to be able to hear the directions from the GPS for those times when I am out and unfamiliar the the area.

Thanks,
TW

Just don't confuse the "Headset/ HSP" with the "A2DP" format.... Headset BT is mono, usu used for cell phones. A2DP BT is quality mono/stereo for headsets, mostly music. That's why you can link to your phone with yr headset but not the other.

As to not having BT out, you can use a dongle to get either out if the GPS has a earjack...So you want to look for a GPS with an earphone out jack ( most units with an MP3 player will have at least a jack) or its a simple mod to put/solder a female jack 6" pigtail to the speaker out of the unit.

see this thread ; https://www.st-owners.com/forums/sh...-to-get-Sena-smh10-in-Canada/page2&highlight=

I added a splitter and 2 dongles so the wife and I could use the same GPS/MP3 player ( Garmin 760 ) whach has an 8gb music card...shielded wire from front to back and they sit under the seat.

Just to add another note. A2DP is SUPPOSED to be a standard but sometimes an A2DP audio player is not compatible with an A2DP headset.

Whenever possible test before purchasing. (odds are good in a community this large that someone might have the headset you want to try with your phone, etc.)

I have a Nuvi 765 and am trying to link it to the Cardo Scala Teamset Pro helmet headset. Put the gps and headset into pairing mode, gps finds headset but then asks for a pass key code of 0000 to be entered. Am I supposed to enter the 0000 from the headset which has NO KEYBOARD??? Is this a compatability problem between the gps (which I am pretty sure is A2DP bluetooth) and the headset? Will the higher priced G2 or G4 Scala headsets work better than the cheaper Teamset Pro?

see above and the other thread you post re same... your a2dp isn't compatable, you can go with a BT dongle like I did

Although this is an old post I will still reply. I can pair my Nuvi 765 with my Sena SMH10 headset and receive MP3 music as well as the GPS spoken instructions. Walmart.com has refurbished 765T units for $98. I have found no newer Nuvis that will Bluetooth connect to a headset. The newer ones only connect to cellphones.
