Fun fact about your ST1300

Anyone in the USA happened to know what this rubber strap is for? Or why there is a strangely shaped raised area in front of it?

For on-board storage of a U-Lock.
i.e. A wheel lock in the shape of a U.

That's where I found my Honda OEM tool pouch under that strap when I bought my bike.

That location and strap was designed to store the U-Lock that was another one of the accessories that were available from Honda in most markets outside of North America.

Honda P/N 08M53-KAZ-800.

They are seen occasionally over here on newer Hondas, my CBF1000 had underseat storage and rack storage for the same. Mine lived in the Honda accessory top box rack storage. Only downside is it rattled. A lot.

I'm pretty sure that is to hold the fuel line from your aux tank. Honda thinks of everything.

That is because you couldn't get it in North America. This is another one of the many accessories that were available for the ST1300 directly from Honda that were not made available in North America for whatever reason.

Seems a thing in southern Europe (Brit's seem put their trust more into 3ft/30lbs of anchor chain with a massive padlock...)
Also my GF's (Spanish build) NT700VA (AKA Deauville) has this U-lock storage, plus a second holder in the OEM carrier stay for the top-case...
