Good morning all youse!
Salutations from little Bahama.
Hmmm, big decision today -"Cafe Bustelo" or "Big Cluck" from Don's Famous Fried Chicken Emporium.
YOU decide. I've got both cooking today.

Yesterday was a mix of doing a bunch of different things involving drones, motorcycles and teeth.
The teeth thing belongs to my lovely wife who is getting implants - to me a scary and painful event.
I told her I had a motorcycle lift, Scotch and a dremel - but she wasn't interested.

The deer are restless and roving through the area.
@Whisker Bill - we could use some thinning of the herd.

Grass is growing and my new IOT (Internet of Things) sprinkler controller is a real hoot.
Heck, I can turn on my sprinklers from my car, or an airplane, or maybe even from SpaceX.

Hmmm, let's see what I can get into today.

Y'all have a winderfill day!

G'Day...

another cool morning with 1°C (33 in medieval), a thick fog still covering the area like a duvet, the orb of a raising sun tried to pierce through, tinting everything in an out-worldly, orange/pinkish hue...

Something woke me around 0500hrs, tried, but no use in finding sleep again... double dose of Cappriccio stabilized idle and oil-pressure...
woke the GF at 0600hrs, the usual teenager like moaning and groaning...
brave girl is still weathering through on her NT700VA, as her car is still at the shop... will pick it up tonight...

Looking at the WX it seems the riding season is over for this year, night/morning temps around freezing with under 10°C during the day are not very inviting, nor safe for that matter, as exposed spots might already be icy...
Not to mention all the ignorant, half blind, vicious car drivers around when leaving the office in pitch-black conditions...

So I guess I'll give the '00 ST a good wash this afternoon, disconnect the batteries of both and put covers on them... if the conditions permit some day-trips to the shed for service and fix-ups...

have a nice w/e though!

cheers!

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the coffee, Nick. I think I’ll go with the Bustelo.

55/70, cloudy with very slight chance of rain.

I drove the car yesterday and got the “Change oil soon” message, so that may get put on the schedule for today. The oil sensor must have timed out, because I know it hasn’t been the 7000 miles. If you don’t hear from me soon, somebody come help me back up. I can hear the TV commercial now, “Help me. I’ve changed my oil and I can’t get up.”

John

Well cluck me, chicken coffee. I hope there's no beaks or feet in it. It tastes a bit like,........erm, chicken.
Meh.
@ST1100Y it isn't so much the 50 f's for me, there's just no darn grip. Even if it's dry the roads never seem to dry fully and if you can't enjoy the twists what's the point.
As for riding in the ice, been there, got the T, no thanks. I leave that to the Canuckistanians or those who are one brick short of a full load. Or both. My days of sitting with my boots on the pots of an R80RT are long over.
Pffffffftttttt.
We've been to Berwick-upon-the-Tweed, Er'Indoors returned to Jumpy Up and Down, I didn't.
The weather was OK if a little gloomy in a cyclonic sort of way, 44 to 53. It might brighten.
Pffffffftttttt.
Av a gud un and remember, there's time for another coffee before lunch.
Upt.

good morning all. thanks Nick for the coffee. 35F on the dog walk with a crisp cool sky out to show off the stars as we walked around the neighborhood.

have gym and grocery shopping at the top of the list today so that will keep me out of trouble for the morning. the high should be 63F. enjoy the day

stay safe

Thx Nick, master of tractors, drones and doohickeys!
Bustelo for me please.
Best of luck to Mrs Nick!

Just returned home.
Got a call late last night if I could pick up Peter later today.

I rode for six hours yesterday, zero on the Pfffft scale!
Mostly sunny, maybe half an hour in fog, 43f.
Amazing roads. No tourists, no RVs.

Tonight my daughter has invited me to see a show, while Mrs Stu is babysitting….

10˚c/50f, grey, drizzle, calm.

Have a good one!
Stu

Whilst you've to a little move more conservative, has the ST enough weight to warm those Exedras even in cold weather...
Once parked you can always compare with lightweight bikes: thread surface on ST rubbers: dry, on others: dripping wet...
And I've been riding on snow covered roads from Mariazell to Vienna, kinda doable, but certainly not fun...

Morning all, and thanks for the coffees, Ned. Err Nick.

I actually had chicken for dinner last night. Mary Brown's has the best legs in town. Yes, that is their slogan.

Also saw 4 deer on the ride to work this morning. The first was just a few houses up. Saw it on the side of the road at the last minute,,, darned good at hiding when not moving. Grabbed the front brake, and that started the deer. Ran back towards the houses & woods. The other three were at work, walking along the entrance roadway. Common after work, but not usually in the am.

Also came to a car color decision: black. While not a true fan (the car is soooo black with black paint that matches all the black accents....) the other 2 options don't look great in person (I managed to see 2 of them last night that just arrived at a local dealer...) So an email was sent last night requesting the hold, and down payment is scheduled in 2 hours time. In the end I also took the automatic over the manual for two reasons. First, no clutch pedal to worry about with the large winter mucklucks on, and second, automatics have remote start. Not required when parked inside at home, but maybe it'll be nice for when I leave work in the snow and ice. Never had that feature before.

The ride into work was another cool 4C but clear-ish with some sun. 11C and cloudy will be the high. The riding days this yer are numbered indeed, be it snow, ice and cold, or just that there's only 54 days left of 2024. Yup, that's right - only 54 more days.

Now with that scare in your brain, I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the double pot to start, Nick. Rather skeptical of exotic new poultry-based or poultry-inspired flavor offerings, I'll go for the Bustelo please.

It's a mild 49°F in Rockville, dead calm, and clear. We'll see a high around 69- still much warmer than usual for the time of year but nothing like the 80 degrees we've had for the past couple days.

Doctor's appointment (routine annual physical) this morning followed by continued convergence of in-laws. I've told that I'll be making pizzas for everyone this evening. We even have ten pounds of imported flour from Italy for the crust. Before assuming chef duties I'll probably have another go with the leaf blower to tidy up the front yard.

Yes I could. If the cliff let go and collapsed I'd never know it and therefore wouldn't care...

The 1959 earthquake outside Yellowstone Montana triggered an enormous landslide (something like 600,000 cubic yards of rocks and dirt, IIRC). There were people camped along the banks of the Madison River, either in designated campgrounds or just along the roadside (that was permitted in those times). One ten ton boulder came crashing down, bounced over a car without touching it, and landed squarely on the tent of the car's owners. It's probable they literally never knew what hit them.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Try not to get crushed by falling mountains, either. (Falls under the general heading of "Stay safe...")

G'morning all, and thanks for the coffee, NIck. I think I'll chicken out and stick with the Bustelo, if it's all the same to you.
Best of luck to your lovely bride; I can attest to the fact that getting implants is not a pleasant experience, but they heal up pretty fast.

We have cloudy conditions today, with a slight chance of showers for a bit this afternoon. 9°C/48°F with a feels-like of 5°C/41°F now, 12°C/54°F feeling like 9°C/48°F later.
At some point later today (or more likely, tomorrow), I'll have to make a trip to Staples (or "Bureau en Gros", as it is called in Quebec), as I'm getting incessant and annoying pop-up alerts on my computer telling me my ink jet printer is out of black ink. Dang, those cartridges are expensive. Might as well get the package that comes with the colour cartridges as well - more economical.

Have a good one, folks. Stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Nick.
As much as I appreciate the variety, I'll stick to the Cafe Buscelo.

It's sunny and 40 in MA this morning, rising to 63 with more sun and wind.

I got to the gym and out with the dog, yesterday.
Mexican for dinner, once Brenda arrived home. She attended a work event for a coworker who's retiring. She got to field a bunch of questions/comments about her return to work.
She says that her bosses interviewed another person to work her job.

Today, I arrived to the plasterers in my driveway and on the front lawn.
It's drywall day!
When Brenda arrives, we'll take off to a builder's supply place to pick out a shower door, light fixtures and such.
Most of the big items are already on order.
She has a Dr. appointment this afternoon, and I may take that opportunity for a gym visit.

Have a great day,
Steve

Good morning all!
Thanks for the double up start Mr Nick!

Yes, I could help you with your infestation, myself and another friend were invited to Alabama years ago, (as out of state hunters) we didn’t get around to going that time, due to work.
I’m told your white tail deer are a bit smaller than Canucksville deer! But your daily limits are much better.

Cooler here today, breezy, WNW 13-25MPH, 50F

Good choices Obo! Resale is probably better on the automatic!

I’m starting to feel a little better today and just in time!
Miss Judy should return to the roost this evening.

PS yes I would Stoo!

Morning all! It's a grey day out there, 7C with a predicted high of 11C and rain late afternoon.

Congrats on the car Obo! Going with auto was likely the smart choice and remote car starters are the bomb. I loved mine when it was -40 in Calgary in January. I've been riding to work and am hoping to continue that most of the year round, except when the temps drop below 0C or there's snow. It's pretty much a straight run into town on a 4 lane highway so not many treacherous curves etc. We'll see though, I may chicken out at some point....though it reminds me I do need to get the heated grips working again......

Stu, yes.....at least as much as I sleep.

Working from home today with a pleasant view of the back garden. I'm watching the various wildlife, including contractors, go about their day.

That's about all, hope everyone has a great day!

Implants. My wife had all her upper teeth removed and replaced with implants. I don't know how she could handle all her teeth being pulled at once. Just awful. But her new teeth look great! Very costly, but well worth it. My cousin is a dentist and put several implants in for me. One time I told him I didn't need to be knocked out and that was a big mistake. Ha. You really want to be under sedation for it.

I always enjoy the heck out of your pictures. Is that a falling rock net I see in that one photo? Apparently, the folks in the last photo aren't concerned, but all the fallen rock around those buildings would give me pause to reconsider my site choice. Nice solar clothes drier.

Thanks for the Bustelo, Nick!

The deer are thick as deer around here. No room for thieves, although I wish they'd show up and steal some deer. We have a dozen or so (deer, not thieves) that hang out by our gate and run up and down the street. Some try to stop moving cars and, by all accounts, this usually proves to be a mistake. I think they've made a deal with the local body shops.

The white tails are protected around here because they belong to the State of Texas. If you hit one and it's laying in the middle of the road in the throws of death, you can't touch it or, heaven forbid, drag it into the bed of your truck for the weekend picnic. Axis deer, on the other hand, are fair game. Go figure. Apparently the ADL (Axis Defense League) aren't on the ball. This is obvious discrimination. It's so bad, that in desperation, some of the Axis deer are actually identifying with White Tail deer just to stay alive.

Rain is in the forecast. At least what they call "rain" in Texas Hill Country. It rains more in one afternoon in Southwest Florida than it does here all year. If we get 5 total inches over a couple of days you'd think we were the damned banging on the doors of the ark as it bobbed away.

The landlady had a band of rednecks (the Mexicans must have been busy) come and trim all the trees on the fence line surrounding the property. I'm in Pink Floyd's fishbowl now. Wish you were here. I used to have to strain to see my obese neighbor cutting mostly dirt at around 2 mph on his box store riding mower. Now I don't.

Have a blessed day everyone!
