"For many years I considered the Honda ST1100 the ultimate sport-tourer, but wasn't quite so enamored when it morphed into the ST1300. The Yamaha FJR now holds the title. I've never felt quite so in tune with a bike as the FJR, which seems to know what I'm thinking, and automatically reacts to it. I could be biased by the fact that it has my initials mongrammed on the fairing."

He also considered the Gold Wing to be the best touring bike, and stressed these were simply one man's opinion.

BTW, I saw an ST1100 sitting forlorn with snow on the seat beside a driveway near the Deerfield, Ohio VFW Post this morning. Based on the price painted on an adjacent ratty looking tractor, the guy is not going to let this bike go inexpensively.

There's an ST1100 a few hours North of me for sale - Red 1993, 84,763km for $3500 Cdn. You can get some decade younger ST1300's here for around that same price.

Clement Salvadori has nice things to say about his ST1100 in this month's Rider magazine.

I had an 07 fjr for 2 years and 7k miles.i loved the way it looked and power but it always felt top heavy.its much lighter than my st but st feels definitely more agile.

Sometime, about the turn of the last century; I met Fred Rau and his wife Cherry in New Mexico under an ancient shade tree. Wonderful spot on the Taos high road. It was hot and I was taking a break from the hot noonday son. They had seen the ST1100 and stopped to chat. He said then the ST was his favorite bike. They were on a strange vehicle and he had used 2x4 blocks on the passenger pegs for her short legs to reach the pegs. I think it was one of those Canadian three wheelers with a matching trailer. I had no idea he was "famous" and he had made no mention of his profession. A day later I watched him speak at a HSTA STAR rally. I would have never known I had met him otherwise. Very nice couple.

This is another really inspirational bike video - amazingly, it is actually a commercial for a bank in Taiwan. The video is called The Dream Rangers. It always makes me feel good.

I've seen this before and . . . it always makes me feel good too. Thanks for posting it up.
