I received an e-mail from ST-owners. Got me thinking about my big adventure back in 2012. I had retired a couple years earlier, and my bucket list was to touch the four corners of the lower 48 & touch as many of the states as I could. Each evening I would post my experiences of the day.
It is now mid- January ‘25 ….. the years have flown by …. and I still have my ‘05 ST, although my 15 year old grandson definitely has his eyes on it! I thought it might be fun to remember my trip with the daily posts. I will be posting each day to break up the winter blues. Hope you guys get a kick out of it.

Leave tomorrow for my first major ride. Boynton Beach Fl. to Raleigh, NC & then head west to the San Diego area to touch the SW corner, then back to Phoenix, & end in Vegas. Staying off the interstates when possible... touching all the states I can.

Appreciate all the tips I received from the forum. From tires, to bags, to clothes,to travel tips.

Ready or not ..... Doobie2

Day one 4/7/12

Left Boynton Beach, Fl on I-95N to just north of Daytona. Headed a little inland to get off the slab. Worked my way up to just north of Jacksonville & hit US 1 & rode to Bartow Ga.
Tripometer said 569 miles, clock said nearly 12 hrs. Motel for the night. Florida has great weather, but the riding sucks. Good to get into the rolling hills of Ga

Day 2 4/8/12

Staying on US 1 all the way to Raleigh, NC . US 1 seems to be a lightly traveled well maintained road. Took a slight detour in Augusta GA. to ride by the entrance to the Masters (It was Sunday, the last day of the tourney) & also detoured off US 1 to Pinehurst NC. Play a lot of golf, thought I'd check em out while in the neighborhood. Pinehurst area is absolutely beautiful. Landed at my daughter's place in Raleigh safe & sound. Beautiful weather so far. My '05 ST is running great ... love this bike. My i-phone also is working great ... have it mounted just above the clutch reservoir with a power cord. My bride & I have the Find your Friends app on our phones ... she can track me on my entire trip. Helps a lot. Phone also helps me with GPS, finding places to eat, etc. Trip meter says 360 miles & clock says approx. 7 hrs
