Does Honda still produce the ST1300 and CTX1300?

I looked on Wiki and it was not clear whether or not Honda still made the ST1300 and CTX1300. I think the ST1300 is unchanged since 2012 ??? And the CTX1300 since 2014 ??? Is that correct?

Also, which model years (if any) are "problematic" for both models?

Honda does not produce either anymore. There are, however, crated motorcycles still for sale. The CTX was a one year only model.... 2014. The ST1300 stopped production in 2012, but you can still buy them "new".

Thanks for that info.

Is it a problem getting parts from Honda dealers? Is Honda committed to supplying parts? Or do you have to go elsewhere for parts?

Of course, it all depends on what parts you are looking for. Many items are shared between different models and have no issues. Some items may run out over time... but the aftermarket most certainly picks up on things.

For instance, my ST1100 fuel pump went out. No longer available from Honda. However, the pump itself is extremely common. You just don't get all the fixin's and mounts to get it in your tank. No problem... just buy the pump and install it in the mount you currently have and go down the road. Or, like I, put an external electric pump on it and leave the rest alone.

Compared to other models... these are by far one of the most trouble free motors with fairly minor maintenance to boot.

The deals on the CTX right now are really too good to ignore. I can't remember a time to get so much motorcycle for under $7k brand spankin' new.

Holy crap! A "new" CTX1300 for $7K!

I haven't yet looked for a CTX or ST service manual online, which would answer these questions . . .

I do almost all the minor maintenance on my bikes myself so . . .

Is the battery easy to replace? (Batteries die here in the desert about every 3-4 years.)
Is an oil/filter change easy to do?

I just called the local dealer and they have a "new" CTX1300 there. I may go over this afternoon and take a look.

(Wondering how by 2008 H-D Fat Boy will think about its new garage-mate . . . .)

I have the service manual for my CTX1300 and there are owners who are still able to get it currently. I also do much of my own maintenance and find oil changes rather easy to do on this bike. No plastic to remove. I had to remove the bottom pan on my ST1100. The battery is located in the upper left "cheek" on the CTX and it not really hard to replace, though I haven't needed to do that yet. I bought mine in April 2014. That price of $7000 is more likely the standard version new with only test ride miles on them. The Deluxe version is slightly more usually and only a few dealers have that price. Careful that they don't tack on extra charges as some do (advertise 7000 but add on another 1000 in prep and setup charges!). No real issues with either bike as mentioned. Most mentions of "new" ST or CTX models after 2012/2014 are likely false if in the USA. There are reports of "newer" model years of these in other countries. Don't know for sure if there are any changes from the last known models but doubt it. There are some aftermarket items for the CTX: shields, seats, top cases, saddlebag liners, foot pegs, grips, etc. Exhaust is VERY unique on the CTX so very unlikely any aftermarket vendor will touch it. A member of the CTX1300 forum makes saddlebag guards and forward highway peg/driving light mounts on his own time for owners. Of course there are a lot of aftermarket items for the ST as members of this forum will attest.

I consider the CTX a very relaxed ride with foot neutral posture and ergos very similar to a Gold Wing (I used to own a GW). The ST is much more spirited with foot under posture and aggressive ergos. I also think the stock seat is absolutely the most comfortable stock seat of any bike I've been on. But that's just me. We're all different so YMMV.

ps- not trying to sell, just inform.

If interested do pay a visit over on the CTX1300 forum and read through some of the posts for more information and a few things to look for with this bike. There is a recommendation to be sure to lower the handlebars to facilitate seeing the mirrors better (dealers think they need to be set rather high) and also read about "The Broken Tab Story" thread (search for it) for information about one rather minor (depending who you are) issue with the panel that the battery cover snaps into.

Thank you. Will do.

I realize this is an ST forum but is CTX discussion OK here? Or verboten?

I see no problem here. After all, you are asking about the ST1300 too. If there is I'm sure Joe (moderator) will move the thread for you.

No problem at all.... we're pretty friendly, for the most part.

It truly is a steal. Do a search on CycleTrader and come in armed with locations willing to sell. The dealer Jeff went to agreed to lower their price to match and he road it home.
