Crash bar problem.

Does anyone other than T-Rex Racing make front crash bars for the ST1300?

The reason I ask is I purchased a set from T-Rex Racing and the left side bar is badly made and misshaped. After a number of emails with them they have sent me a return shipping label even though their return policy says the customer must pay any return shipping fees, which I refuse to do. They told me that all of the bars on the left side are made this way. So there isn’t any point in replacing them. So now I can either straighten the bar or return them. Returning them means I need to find a different manufacturer if I want matching bars, or I have no bars at all. The rear crash bars I got from them a very nice indeed but the front bars look like they have been made in Pakistan and appear to be very poor quality. The entire loop on the left side bar as seen from the seat is misaligned. T-Rex Racing customer support claims this is normal. See my photos. These bars have just been fitted, and I have yet to drill holes in the fairing.

I’m really hoping I can get some genuine support here, rather than the usual blend of sarcastic comments and insults.

May be another supplier in this string. A bit old, but maybe.

(Update: they're closed)

This part also looks a lot like a police mounting point for lights or sirens etc (as well as a crash bar/engine guard). That T-Rex company was the only one I found in Google searches, no doubt there used to be more suppliers. Someone good at welding could no doubt cut and re-weld that one part in. If the rest is straight enough, the misaligned piece could be fixed.

Had same experience with some Givi bars on another bike.

Support was laughable....but with the exact same offer, free return although technically not qualifying for it.

Then saw some YT vids where the installer would casually advise that either a blow torch or cutting and rewelding to align fittings may be required....

Mine had a vertical misalignment issue, so was able to use a floor jack for aligning the bolt holes.

Thanks for this info, actually makes me feel better because that is what I am looking at doing.

The whole loop is out of alignment, an inch in and inch forward and twisted at the wrong angle. The light bracket is an easy fix, the loop not so much.

Another thing that’s happening is the paint is peeling off in places, as though it has not adhered to the metal. The rear crash bars still have all their paint. It’s as though they have been made by a different company. This is a photo of the right side crash bar which aligned perfectly.

I was going to say cutting the bracket off and welding it in correct alignment does not look like a difficult task, then I read your later post. That is a big problem. I no longer get excited about poor paint jobs on accessories. I bought a rear rack for my NC750x from a Turkish company and it appears to be fresh off the plasma cutter with sharp edges and chipped paint. Quality is simply not there any more....but I admit I used $$ as a major selection criteria. Buy once, cry once is a popular saying on another forum.

I sent T-Rex an email telling them I was sorry I'd recommended them (I've purchased from them before).

If you emailed them on my behalf I thank you.
