Hi

It's the third day that i have my ST. It is a new machine not over a 100 miles

I have a question about cold starting...

Outside temperature 55F

start ok ,
start reving more and more until it reaches 3000km for about 3 minutes until the 3 bar a fully light. Is that normal reving that hi for that long???? How long do you wait before ridind. Actually, it does this;
1500 rpm until the first bar is lit them the rpm rises to over 3000 rpm until the 3 bar are lit. The after about 15 seconde the rpm starts to go down to 1000rpm witch is normal

My old virago with manual choke was more domesticated during warming...

Hot starting is no big thing.

My honda truck is more gentle when warming, max 1000 rpm than normal but only for a few second than it start to go down quite rapidely.

Mine doesn't rev that high... but it does rev up some... you probably need to check some of the 'basics' like air filter and spark plugs... might be in the 'normal' range of characteristics.... YMMV...

3000k sounds a little anxious.
Maybe the thermal wax or it's adjustment is acting up.

Mine starts to come down before it reaches 3 bras.
Is the coolant level ok?

How is your throttle cable adjustment. I adjusted mine to idle at 750 when warm. It does go to about 1000 rpm at cold start up, and settles back down when the wax melts. However, when I ride it before three bars, it sometimes quites during a shift if I don't pay attention to the revs. I just do the shift and it jump starts and runs fine until it's totally warm.

Hi Hondasaurus,
My new '09 did the same thing. It would run up to 3,000 rpm or more during warmup. I decided to investigate & resolve myself mostly because I bought the bike 600 mi. from home. The adjustment is the SE Thermal Valve. It's not difficult, but you must pull the airbox to expose the throttle bodies.
The final adjustment I settled on was to adjust the SE Thermal Valve adjusting nut 1/4 turn CCW when looking down on it from the left side of the bike. It doesn't take much to make a significant difference in idle speed at partial warmup. After making the adjustment I'd suggest allowing the bike to cool overnight to achieve a truly cold test start. Allow the bike to idle up to operating temp before deciding whether or not to make any further adjustments.
There are a number of helpful threads here if you search on "idle". One of the best is here:

Yop after two trip to the dealer it was the thermal wax valve. The second dealer did it without concern and very professionnal.

Well the dealer where the bike was bought had the video of the problem and did not raise a finger to find the case and cure. Will never see me in again. I'll dive 15 minutes more for much better service....

Thank for the support

At 55 to 115 degrees mine warms up about as long as it takes for me to clunk it down into first gear after starting it in neutral. Below 55 I give it about as long as it takes me to tighten the helmet strap and pull the gloves tight.

YMMV.
