Still waiting for my IFS to come from Scott's Hotrods, just another week of sweeping the floors.

Y'all have a great day!

Hugs

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Italian Dark roast Ray. Your report was spot-on: more coffee is needed. And Dave, the GMD is also much appreciated.

Hey Ray what time is it over there ? Are you what 6 hrs ahead of the east coast of yankeeville?

Great Britain is currently, and usually, 5 hours ahead of Eastern time. There are a couple short stretches where the difference is 4 or 6 hours, as they change between standard and daylight time a few days before the U.S. gets around to it.

It's 27° chilly, frigid, non-warming Fahrenheit degrees in Rockville, and clear. Mars is well up in the sky, Jupiter above the horizon but below the treetops. There's no wind to speak of (okay, it's actually 4 mph from the SW but at ground level that's as nothing since it's blocked and dissipated by the trees, bushes, and my house), yet it manages to feel like 22. (Sure wish I could feel like 22 again...) The "high" will be 41.

Uke practice, then probably some holiday letter signing and card-writing are on the docket for today.

Mrs. Fun and I did what needed doing yesterday and booked the puddle-jumper flight from Bangkok to Vientiane to complete our itinerary for our upcoming trip to Laos and Vietnam (mid-January to mid-February; you lot are going to get almost an entire month's respite from my ramblings, musings, and ponderings in that time). She also selected and booked a hotel in Bangkok, as we'll have about a 27 hour stay in town between flights. I'll legitimately be able to claim that I've been to Thailand, but it's definitely going to need another visit to do the place justice.

It's solstice -14 days. Can hardly wait!

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

good morning all. thank you for the coffee. Green Mountain, or Dark Italian. maybe one of each. 52F on the dog walk with a cloud here and there and a lot of stars in the clear spots to see as we walked along. it was a little bit of a breeze that i put my hood up to cover my ears. us desert rats get cold easy. the high should see 69F.
the hunt for L.E.D. replacement bulbs for my Maglite went well yesterday. I ended up ordering a new flashlight. enjoy the day

stay safe

Thx Ray!
That Darragh feller looks angry…

5˚c/41f, rain, calm.

Been for a wet walk.
Practising, cooking, oh and yes, drinking.

Yesterdays babysittin was cancelled due to a tired SIL, and I could resume my usual Friday activities.
SIL now holds a solid zero on the Wooleric Pffft scale.

Have a good one!
Stu

Wet trail today….

Morning all and thanks for the coffee Ray, even if it was a bit watery.

Gloriously sunny here today, but matched equally be the cold. -13C, -17C windchill. Egads. Will only reach -9C with a windchill of -16C.

Got the yard snowblowed after work yesterday. The bitter fierce winds blew the snow around like tornadoes, some off into the woods, some back into the driveway and lots into my face. Joys of Canada eh?

Hope everyone has a great day and keeps warm and dry, unless you're doing one of those ice bath things.

Cheerio, (or corn flakes if you prefer)

Obo.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.

It's 20 and cloudy, although I can see the orb of the sun beyond them.
The temperature should rise to 36, and we'll see sun and clouds throughout the day.
Maybe some light snow, overnight.

We did a bit of Christmas shopping, yesterday and plan to head out again, today.
The contractor told us to expect the electrician, today, and he'll install lighting, plugs and switches. We received the bathroom lighted mirror, yesterday, so we'll look for him to install that and the light above the island. Maybe not today, but it's on the list.
The contractor was going to install mouldings in the kitchen, but his helper is still using his mitre saw at another project. Instead, he worked in the bathroom, getting the shower ready for tile, next week. We're still looking for a sliding glass door for the shower.

I see that @Uncle Phil has a post about Pearl Harbor 83 years ago, so I'll take a moment to remember those who lost their lives that day.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning, everyone. Thanks, Ray. Saturday, you say? Hmmmm…..Which one?

A bit warmer today. It’s still cool at 22, but we should see a sunny 50, later in the day. Can’t complain.

Probably a good day to straighten up the garage and play with some of the toys tools I picked up at Harbor Freight last week. I need to design a way to use my engine hoist to help me up from the creeper.

Good morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Ray and Dave, and for the delish, fresh-out-of-the-oven sourdough, Dave!

We'll have a mix of sun and clouds for most of the day, and then it will snow from sometime this evening through to tomorrow. Right now the temperature is -8°C/18°F with a feels-like of -13°C/9°F, and the high will be -6°C/21°F with a f-l of -10°C/14°F.

Can't stay long, as I need to get packed and ready for my 3-day trip to Ottawa tomorrow. Also, it hurts to type; I'm in a rheumatoid arthritis flare-up and my left index finger has swelled up like a sausage and hurts like the devil. Also, I seem to have picked up some kind of crud - my sinuses are socked in and I have a crashing headache. Oh, what a joy to have to travel (and attend meetings) when one feels like this. Sigh. The good news is that the docs ascertained yesterday that my sis does not, in fact, need a stent as there is no blockage.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good morning all!
Sorry for not attending, I have my hands full trying to get crap sorted & also dealing with water logged golf carts!

@Obo
How is your Mom?
The rest of you lot try to be good! Cause if you’re naughty…..
Gotta go, air conditioning guy should be here shortly! A cool & breezy 54F here in North Fort Myers,
A round of hugs to everyone..

Morning all! Still dark here and I expect overcast as I didn't see any stars when letting the dogs out into the run earlier. It rained a metric crap tonne last night though. And is due to start again in about an hour, according to the Weather Network. It's currently 10C with a predicted "high" of 11C.

My wife and daughter are headed to Vancouver later to see Taylor Swift on Sunday night. That means the dogs and I are on our own. Lots to do though to clean things up and get things built before their return with an entourage of relatives. I'm under strict instructions that the house will be;

a) organized
b) clean
c) no dog hair in existence given one relative's allergy
d) various bits of furniture assembled
e) you get the idea....

My wife had a concerning incident last night w.ith her phone; all of a sudden this onslaught of telephone calls from numbers she didn't recognize, one after another. Then her phone wouldn't accept phone calls. When I called it, it went straight to a generic system voicemail. I tried calling the cell provider support line after wading through innumerable pages on their support link but they were closed. We wondered if someone had cloned the phone, the big concern of course is whether they were going after the Swift tickets. Waiting for the cell provider support line to open up to see what they can tell us (yes it is Telus).

Anyway, lots to get done so best get doing it. Hope everyone has a great day!

a lot of stars in the clear spots to see as we walked along

I have a brother in Fountain Hills, who has become quite an astronomy fan. As part of that, he's helping organize and spearhead a drive to build a dark skies center in town (the "IDSDC" or "International Dark Skies Discovery Center"), complete with planetarium (projection) dome and separate telescope dome. He sent me a photo of the progress on the planetarium dome the other day:

1733571485799.png

with this additional information as a description:

The dome is being constructed onsite, next to the place where it will permanently sit atop a circular wall. In a couple of weeks, a 500-ton crane will come to Fountain Hills (the largest ever here) and lift the 42-ton dome and set it on the wall. We're planning a public viewing event for that occasion.

A 12-meter diameter spherical inner projection dome will be built inside the exterior dome and tilted at a 20-degree angle.

*I've probably mentioned this before, but the 23,000 sq. ft. facility will also include:
  • a 700mm telescope (largest in metro Phoenix) in another domed area
  • a 150-seat theater
  • a 3300 sq. ft. interactive learning area
  • a classroom
  • an "Einstein Exploration Station" for teaching the physics of light
  • and a snack bar & gift shop

I don't think he'd mind my sharing a few examples of photos he's taken over the past few years.

And, for those sharp-eyed observers who may have noticed his signature on the photos, yes his name is Scott Adams but he is NOT the Scott Adams of "Dilbert" fame and notoriety. For a stretch of time the two of them lived in the same town, and he had the devil of a time persuading some people he wasn't that Scott Adams.

[MUCH MUCH later... after a long uke practice session]

Oops I got distracted and never hit "Post". Silly wabbit.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Thanks for kicking this off again Ray, these below- freezing mornings are NOT my cup of tea, which is why I need coffee.

Rode around town yesterday with 3 layers of leg coverings, 4 layers up top, and i found my balaclava just as I was leaving the house. Went to work sans Kaiser, later to my appointment, then back home, temp was 29 but I didn't take a picture because it was too bunglesome to take off a glove, dig the phone out of a jacket pocket and then do all that in reverse while my hand froze. Besides, with some of y'all that data point won't even earn an honorable mention on the Paul CB Coldest Winter Ride thread.

All the 50 or 60 tubs of Christmas decorations were brought down from the attic last night. But she's downsizing, right? Sure, until she brings back all these replacement decorations from the stores to take the space previously used by the ones she threw out. I don't even bother to count the tubs any more.

But since my garage is presently in a cluttered condition, I'll just have to keep my mouth shut. And as long as all I have to do is help her with the lights on the tree (yet to be found), and put up the lights around the front porch / deck, I'll consider myself fortunate.

Of course, I can't decorate the porch until I first trim those damned holly trees that insist on growing up to the height of the top porch rail. My piston locking tool needed to remove the chainsaw's clutch basket didn't arrive as promised yesterday, but maybe today. Too hard to cut the limbs by hand.

If the holly branches aren't cut way back every year, my hands are shredded trying to wrap the strings of lights around the porch rails. Hollies must be the reason napalm was invented, but these monsters surrounding the front of our house would most likely survive a tactical nuclear detonation. The domicile would be obliterated, but the hollies would still be standing. Bastards.

But we need to go for a walk. Kaiser loves this miserable freezer phenomenon. He would probably have a great time in the snow, but I'm hoping it won't come to that, this year. I shouldn't be tempting fate by even thinking about it. But we don't usually see these dismal degrees until January or February.

Did I tell you I hate the cold?

Morning Ray & All from sunny, but still hazy, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 28F, up from 19F, and heading for 48F. No breeze at this time, and if it's like yesterday, we'll get a little bit in the afternoon, but nothing strong.

December 7th, 1941, 83 years ago! :usflag1:

I was able to get to the tractor shed electrical, flipped the breaker and the outlets at the shed all came up with an "open ground", so I'll chase that down and hopefully I'll have power out there today! :think1:

Eggs, bacon, homemade Sourdough English muffin and OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
