Good morning everyone

There's fresh-brewed French roast coffee in the pot. Please help yourselves and pause a moment just to savor it.

In Rockville it's 29°F - dang COLD for the date - and will remain below freezing until sometime after Mr. Sun crawls above the horizon. Once he gets started we may reach 50 with sunny skies taking the place of the clouds we've had for the past few days. Welcome back, blue skies!

This morning I'll visit the home of the friend who got me started playing ukulele; we've recently started getting together once a week for mutual practice and learning sessions and have enjoyed the couple we've already had. After that's over it's off to the goof course for an afternoon round.

Yesterday evening's Cherry Blossom Festival event at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan was fun; among other dignitaries they had the group of Miss Cherry Blossom "princesses" from each state, plus the current Miss Cherry Blossom (Japan) as well as American Samoa, Taiwan, and Guam. I spoke with a few of them and they were uniformly engaging, vivacious, outgoing, and clearly women with ambitions, on their way to what appears to be bright and active futures in challenging fields.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, because tomorrow may be too late.

When your brain needs a hug: coffee... :coffee:

1°/12°C today, partially sunny, no rain... hence no warnings...

GF insisted on taking her NT for her commute, so I can have her Skoda (Octavia, Diesel, automatic) to pick up my winter tires/wheels from the (now closed) Toyota shop and haul them to the bike shed (5 minutes away)... which I did...
That the Octavia drives like a trawler is a different issue... but it has a spacious trunk, got the 4 wheels, cylinder head, cams, valve cover, flywheel and some other stuff I'll store for future...

Office, a tad busier then usual, boss is attending an event, hence forwards all emails/inquiries to my account...

On the media penguins are more popular then the 'mittens' were... if you catch my drift... deadpool_small.png

enjoy your week division!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Keith.

It's sunny and 26 in MA this morning, rising to 45 and becoming partly cloudy, later.

I made it to the gym and not much else, yesterday.
I started watching season 3 of the Reacher series on Amazon, while Brenda was bowling. Interesting, as I'd just finished the book. I guess I'll start it over, since Brenda mentioned that she'd like to watch it, when I told her.

Today is my first day of the season working at Thompson Speedway for a club event. It's going to be a bit chilly, I think.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Ahhhhh, thanks for the coffee Keith! That first sip is always savored.

23 dank and chilly F's this morning, possibly going to 39F under somewhat cloudy skies. Spring is definitely having a hard time getting into this area! There is a fresh coating of snow (under an inch) that is hiding the dirty grayness of the melting snowbanks.

A small trailer for use behind my ATV was delivered yesterday, some assembly required. It was interesting to note that while the various body parts were somewhat packaged in the big cardboard box to prevent knocking all the paint off them (but still allowing some dents), the various assembly hardware (nuts, bolts, clips and washers) appeared to have just been dumped in a pile in a corner. During transport it was well mixed throughout the box and by some miracle the shipping gods allowed only 6 (easily replaced by shop stock) of the required 20 washers to escape through the "caused by handling" holes punched in the box. Strangely enough the assembly instructions were actually understandable because they were a series of well drawn pictures with more than adequate detail.

Today is an "out of the house" day. Breakfast with a group of work retirees, lunch with a former co-worker, checking out the AV setup in the new Fish and Game clubhouse to make sure it is usable for the next safety class and then dinner with another former co-worker and the 2 people they hired to replace me. That may use up most of the "people-ing" I have in me for the month!

Be safe, be careful and enjoy the day!

Scott

Good morning, all. Thanks for the start, Keith

Brrrr….Cold here, also. 30, with a light frost, but headed to a sunny 65. Woo-Hoo!

Finished my tax return yesterday. Pfffftt. Paying taxes on my own money that I withdrew from my IRA, as well as paying taxes on my own money from Social Security.

Headed to Harbor Freight for some light mounts. Don’t need them, but it’s a good price.

Paying taxes on my own money that I withdrew from my IRA, as well as paying taxes on my own money from Social Security.

Paying taxes is no fun for sure at any time, but remembering that I didn't actually pay taxes on those types of funds when they became my money helps restore some perspective, at least for me. In the meantime I had the opportunity to let Mama and Papa Simolean get busy to produce extra Baby Simoleans that became part of the funds.

Keith, Have you ever calculated how many millions you would now have, if you could have privately invested your SS payments? Back when the SSA used to mail out summaries of your lifetime contributions, I did the math. Cried for about a week.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee and conversation, Keith!

Heh...for a moment, there, we thought we were going to get away with it, but noooo. For most of the day yesterday, the precipitation came down first as mixed rain/wet snow or wet snow that wasn't sticking...until it was. Sometime in the afternoon, it turned to plain snow and fell for quite a while. As a result, we're back to a wintry landscape. Temps are currently on the cool side, so it'll hang around for a bit, but things should warm up again soon and it will all be an annoying memory. Our current temp of -5°C/23°F with a chilly feels-like of -11°C/12°F should inch its way up to around freezing at some point.

In other news, I must have wowed the large, international company with the language test I did for them on Monday morning, because they called me back within hours to set up an interview. Said interview will take place tomorrow afternoon. Am I excited about this? In a word: no. Frankly, it sounds like it'll be more of the same of what I just left, only with longer hours and less pay. At the other place, my hours were 8:30 to 4 Monday to Friday, but working an extra half hour every day got me every 3rd Monday off. At this place, the work week is 8 to 5 Monday to Friday, period, with no flex schedule...and the salary would be considerably lower. I honestly don't think I have the patience, stamina or even focus for this stuff anymore. So I'll certainly attend the interview and see what they have to say, but...well...ppffffttt.

Anyhoo, have a good one, everybody, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good morning, 45 F high of 56 F Cloudy with sunny spots, wind has died down to 7 mph Gusts to 14 mph, overnight was pushing 30 + mph. Breakfast was done, two boiled eggs and bowl of Cheerios, and of course thanks Keith for the coffee! Dave's comics gave me a good laugh, so thanks as well. Couple of things on the agenda, finish cleaning parts for Star's litter box and reload it with litter. Throw some stuff on the porch into the dumpster, garbage truck won't take. Cut the grass if it stays dry. But first must get another cup or two of coffee! Y'all have a good day,G

Good morning and thank you for the morning start. 51 in Prescott Arizona this morning going to 75 later but I am sure that I will see higher than that. 30 this morning where I camped in the mountains outside of Prescott. I saw 97 yesterday on my way here.

Enjoy your day and be safe out there.

Picture of my camp last night.

27°F??? Had to grab a coffee and the ice scraper this morning. It's April! Thanks Keith for giving me a cup to curl my cold fingers around.

More of the same today in office, banter about looking busy, disappear for jazz practice, then reappear for the afternoon meetings.

Did very little yesterday. I had such high aspirations as always but ended up under a blanket with the Prince of Purrsia atop...a rare moment for him. I guess I tuckered him out with the laser pointer. Probably more aspirations today but hopefully coupled with some actual motivation. Until then, take care y'all!

Good morning all!
Thanks for the hot start Keith!
I’m unsupervised today & most of tomorrow.
I also have a meeting in Waterloo tomorrow, to go over what all the markets have done, with my money guy.
I’m hoping it’s a decent travel day!
I’ll do some visiting while there, can’t pass up an opportunity to catch up!
32/36 with some sun & a WSW breeze.
Enjoy your hump day!

Morning all! It's a mix of sun and cloud, with even a bit of rain on the ride in. Currently, it's 8C and the high is predicted to be 11C.

I've been alternating working from home and the office lately and it's playing havoc with my routine. This morning, I forgot my work pass which meant I had to park in the City parkade this morning instead of the one in our building. Then I had to stand forlornly at the office door and knock, hoping someone would come and let me in. Being knocked out of a routine is tough on us ADHD folks. Course we're also adaptable (yes I am aware of the paradoxical nature of those two thoughts).

Today will see me continue my adventures to discover the ownership and appropriate uses of float in a construction schedule. Riveting stuff....

Hope everyone has a great day!
