I was watching a few YT video's this morning and came across this one were a girl catches a big gator at Lake Seminole Georgia-BAMA-FL corner last year. It got my interest with the Lake Seminole in the title.

I don't think anyone here on our ST forum camps more than Mr. @TPadden Tom. He has favorite sites saved from FL. to Alaska, Maine to California and many of us call him up for good sites or follow him to sites for some good ol' fashion camping. No Glamping off the bike's we camp. Tents and sleeping bags with a air mattress is a fine camp for most of us and Tom for sure.

A few years ago Tom contacted me and said he would be camping just 3 hours away over at Lake Seminole and I should come over and join him. Sounds good so I did. He had the site reserved, right off the waters edge just past a little used boat ramp. Nice grass spot no others within 200 yards. Perfect.

It's "Fun" we have camped in the Big Cypress swamp area several time where they catch the 12 foot Burmese Phyton's very near where we camp (and gators). And last winter we camped at Zolfo Springs city campground as usual camped on the edge of the bank right on a back Bayou off the river. Four gators were seen while there but just little guys, 4 to 6 footers.

I almost wish this video hadn't shown up for me to watch this morning. This gator was a 13' 3" monster that weighed 675 pounds. About the biggest I've heard of being caught around here anywhere. I'm sure there was no way that gator could have walked right up the boat ramp and came over 25 yards and unzipped a tent and come on in right? Seems like I feel better now.

Search for Meghan Alanna if you want to watch the video.

Unlike Raymond's 2 wheel deer hunting, I bagged my 11.5 ft gator with 4 wheels. About 10 years ago, totaled my VW Golf on Tamiami Trail, Hwy 41 between Big Cypress and Miccosukee...

I've been to Zolfo Springs a million times. The Pioneer Park campground was a good place to take a pee break. Yep, big gators everywhere. I used to tell relatives that we put saddles on 'em and rode around.

I'd be more worried about the pythons you mentioned. I'd want my tent closed up tight around those.

BTW, I'd stop at Brownville Park a lot, too, when heading out to Zolfo, Wauchula, and points north and west.
