:bow1:Greetings O' mighty riders:D
OKCKeith came out and we installed a new Bestem Top Box for my 03 ST. Its just a little smaller than the standard Honda box but just a nice looking and not difficult at all to put in.
The best value was the price!:run1: $69.00 delivered!!! This included the mounting rack and the wireing for the break light. The box has a lockable latch so you can remove it with ease and dog on it...it works!
So...If you are looking for a top box, check out the one from Bestem. They have them in all the colors we need.
And a BIG THANX TO OKCKEITH!:capwin:

Does a "break light" tell you something is broken, or just that it's time for a coffee? :p:

(Forgive my sense of humour, I'm a Brit.)

Like Chuck says, let's see a pic...

Hey Doc. Thanks for letting me help you. It was my pleasure to pay it foward. It's the ST thing to do. I have had help from some of the ST folks. They would not let me pay them for there help. So it was my turn to try to give something back. I'm still not caught up yet. But I feel better about helping you. I Didn't know that's what you have to do when you buy an ST. But I like It. Guess what It's your turn. Oh I know. You already do that in your practice. Keep it up my freind. It was my pleasure to help a freind. Good people are hard to find.

Does the top box for the ST1300 come in silver? Does anybody have a photo of the top box mounted on the 1300? How flimsy or firm is the structure and what weight will it handle?

Doc,
I had mine for about a year and then it just took off by itself and slid down the New York State Thruway. The locking piece on the mounting plate is it's Achilles' Heal. Please check that often as it can develop small little fractures and then one day while riding you'll look back and have a Sal moment! My suggestion is try to find a way to tether it to the mounting plate. OTher than that it was a pretty darn good top case.

Mine definitely loosened up over time on it's mount. FWIW, the "break" light is not 4 LEDs, but rather 4 tiny, fairly cheap incandescent bulbs. I changed mine to LEDs immediately when I had it. Another problem I found with the 2012 box (the painted ones) is that the "nipple" on the top from the molding process eventually becomes the weak point of the paint job. My "clearcoat" (it's more like a plastic coating) around the nipple cracked and chipped away from that spot and let water get between the clear and the paint.

My box sitting on my living room floor right now. I've opted for a rear rack and back rest for more stability for the pillion and more packing options.

But for the price, it's hard to beat the Bestem top boxes. I think a simple LED swap on the brake light, careful watch on the latching mechanism, and an eventual paint job or a handy sticker over the molding nipple and the box will last a long time.

Just installed the Bestem 2012 on my '06 - looks great (IMHO). Mounting plate feels solid, but I do agree that the locking mechanism on the box seems a tad weak. So I took the advice of others and installed a small thumb screw in the bottom/middle of the box. Screws into a corresponding nut that was glued to the bottom of the mounting plate. Can be removed in 10 seconds if I want to take the box off the bike.

box was way easy to install - an hour at most. Will post pics once I take some :)

I have a silver box on my '07. It's a close match in color, but not exact. But for the $$, it fit the bill. I too added an additional bolt to the box to secure it to the plate. Never had an issue with it. I actually use it more than the side bags. ......:07biker:
