Your bike is unstable overtaking a semi at 90 or unstable at 90 all the time?
Way behind a semi, I feel the turbulence. But, my 1100 is rock steady even as I pass the nose of the tractor.
Did you have a tail case on ?? And, if yes,,, then was the passenger seat full with gear, or a passenger ??

No, nothing at all. Just the regular side cases.
Yup, it's turbulence behind you that sets it off. A topbox or odd cargo can do it. Running "clean" is usually no problem.
Have been impressed the last few years by the marked difference in turbulence between the trucks with skirts and those without. Seems odd now to find one running naked.

Yep... Way faster.
I have found the greatest turbulence behind a semi with an empty car carrier. You wouldn't think all that empty space would disturb the air as much as it does.
For a minute I thought the truck was slowing down to help the bike pass.

Except for exploding tires, rocks kicked up, having less of an escape spot, and to get past the dirty air faster........ Bet others will think of more reasons.
Speaking as someone with a commercial license, I’m sorry they frighten you. It is never a good idea to make fear based decisions. For example what do you do on the interstate when overtaking mile after mile of semi’s all doing 70?, Ride at 100 all day?
That is not at all safe around all that traffic. It is much safer to relax and enjoy the ride.
