A few of US might find this fun: Re-write some Clymer Table 1.

Both the Clymer and the Haynes ST1100 repair manuals have a table of USA ST1100 frame serial numbers. In the Clymer, it is called Table 1 SERIAL NUMBERS (U.S.A. MODELS) and starts on Clymer's page 28. The attached .pdf document or file shows how Clymer's Table 1 starts in the upper half of that page with model year 1991. (That table continues onto the facing page, page 29, and it covers up through model year 2000.)

This thread is a place where we can collectively re-write that Table 1 so that it incorporates most of what we know about the VINs of USA ST1100 models.

Re-write some Clymer Table 1.

We can start it off by splitting the USA's 1991 Model Year into two "vintages" which we can call its 1990 Vintage and its 1991 Vintage.

Then we can re-write the same 1991 Model Year in the manner of Clymer, as two "merged models" which we can call the 49-state 1991 merged model and the California '91 merged model.

(We can leave out Clymer's portions that are about engine numbers, at least for now.)

Since a merged model is a mix of two different vintages or years, there is generally no single, simple parts list for a merged model. Fortunately, there were only a few parts changes going from the 1990 vintage to the 1991 vintage, so USA merged parts lists do exist.

In Clymer's Table 1, the 1992 Model Year requires few changes. So we just dust it off and re-write it as follows:

In Clymer's Table 1, the 1993 Model Year is missing the ending frame serial numbers. So we have to do work even to get it into the following, preliminary form:


1993 Model Year: ..... (Clymer lists no ending frame serial numbers for this '93 model year, so we list instead the highest sample VINs we see available.)

* Any VIN that is followed by the words "at least" is merely a sample VIN; it is not necessarily the ending frame serial number for its model; we are still looking for a way to find the ending frame serial numbers.

Does anyone know of a higher frame serial number than those shown above, for that same model?
The asterisk(*) in some of the above VINs is a placeholder for a "check digit" which we are sometimes omitting.
The "Attached Thumbnails" shows Clymer's Table 1 for these early years of '92 and '93.

If anyone knows of a way to locate an ending frame serial number for 1993, we would appreciate also the ending, 1993 engine number.

Three web sites used to find sample VINs for the 1993 models are:
* micapeak dot com Registry,
* https://trustvin dot com/ and
* http://vincheck dot expert/vin-checker/

The VIN JH2SC264XPM300158 for the sample '93 ABS model was found by other means, probably VIN searching. It was verified by a VIN search. I searched using a search engine called, I think, Gargle or Gurgle.
The '93 California standard ST1100LP sample VIN JH2SC2612PM300127 was verified by a report on an auction of a salvage ST1100LP in Sacramento, California, USA.
The '93 49-state ST1100P sample VIN JH2SC2607PM300986 has not yet been verified.
The '93 California ABS ST1100ALP starting VIN JH2SC264XPM300001 was verified by finding it being parted out on auction site, maybe called ebay?
