Look at the 2018 st1800. Look at the size difference between the old goldwing and the new

That's the best pic so far I've seen of the old/new... definitely looks like an ST next to a Wing vs Wing next to a Wing.... hmmm

Do you know how many liters the st1300 has with the "factory" trunk? Wondering if the new wing is more or less storage than what I have now...

But the storage is less on the GW, I think?

More that the storage of my ST without a trunk. But there's a rack on the back so I can throw on a bag.

I wonder if someone will step up and make an 1800-specific trunk. It would be a price proposition:

pull of the old trunk and backrest
add the body panel
add the new trunk
maybe sell the factory assembly

Or replace the factory trunk with something a little less stylish in step 3 above. I'd just pack less.

I believe with the factory trunk and both side bags the ST has 119 liters of storage . The storage on the new wing is rated at 110 liters .

Now we need a pic of the 2018 Wing next to a ST1300, so we can compare the size of them.

I found this from an old wing world magazine article... If you didn't know better... you'd think it was an ST replacement.

Agreed, looks like a (the) new ST. But, if they would just do to the ST1300 what the did to the Wing (less weight, slimmer design, more gizmos, etc.), we'd have a real winner!

So should we just accept that this is the st replacement, and upgrade to the wing?

Probably, but no one outside of Honda really knows. I think the VFR1200X is another nice option.

Yes. Honda is not going to offer a $20,000 bike that would cannibalize sales of its $30,000 bike.
True Dat... But, they did in the past.

So should we just accept that this is the st replacement, and upgrade to the wing?
No and Yes... it's NOT an ST replacement, in spite of many that have thought the VFR1200, VFR1200X, CTX1300 and now New Wing was the replacement... There isn't one.. yet.. but, hopefully someday, before I'm too old to ride.

Holy Moly! I just glanced at that pic earlier and didn't realize that was an ST next to the GW. I'd like to see a pic the ST and new GW too.

Maybe. Your call. I'd certainly like to think I could.

Looks like someone in OK was impressed with the airbag version located at Shawnee Honda...sale pending

Better start getting younger so you will be able to ride the ST's replacement when it Honda makes it.

The only problem I'm having is knowing that I can buy three CTX1300's for one NeWing. Or, two CTX1300s and out fit them with farkles galore, new gear, including helmets and com systems.

The picture I would like to see is a CTX with a top box and touring windshield next to the NeWing!
