This is a 2002 with 29,000 miles, it sat for more than 10 years before I bought it, a couple of years ago as a rolling basket case. Much assembly was needed and it had about19K miles on the clock. At that time I replaced all hoses and fittings under the carbs, so I think it's likely the water pump or water pump housing gasket might be the problem. I removed some of the plastic but - I've not had eyes on the actual leak yet. There was no prior drip or leak and two days ago I took a 300 mile day ride around the south central Florida, the weather was warm so nothing was froze up to cause this.

Does anyone have suggestions before I dig in deeper?

Yes, I replaced that complete hose with fuel line when I assembled the bike and re-checked it today. (When I first spotted the leak I hoped the overflow would be the culprit - but no luck) Thanks though.

Mike.
Just like you we're guessing.
You need to get in there to find it.
Water pump would be favourite, but who knows.
Good luck.
Upt.

I'll prep it for storage first by draining the gas and refilling the tank with non-ethanol and stabilizer, just in-case this takes awhile to complete.

Has anyone sourced parts recently for a water pump repair? ( While I'm there it will get a timing belt too, even though it's only had 30k miles on it)

Yeah if you're that far in you might as well do the timing belt and check the pulleys.
I was able to buy new ST1100 water pumps from Webbike in Japan.
And there is a vendor on this site that does the 'refurb' (assuming he still does it).

UP, thanks, I'll check on both.

It also seems the belts are getting rare, I've seen a few a very steep prices. However, the belts for my 83 goldwing are cheap and available, go figure.

I found 3 of the Gates 'version' on EBay back in November for $86 each.
There are deals but you have to do a lot of searching.
Here's the thread on the water pump refurb service -

At one time you could purchase a kit. I have taken the numbers off of the parts in the kit for reference

The water pump bearing # is WB173007D this seems to be available from different sources for a couple of dollars
The seal is THS 14.20 30.00K. This looks like it’s available at a tractor supply. For a couple of dollars

Thanks Kiltman, that is good information.

The seal sure looks the same as what Honda used on the GL500 & CX500's and 650's. I will have to check my parts bin and see. ( I'm very likely to buy the kit from happy bike as you did - I expect they have a known quality source )

Unfortunately I think they are no longer in business. That’s why I posted the part numbers of the kit.
Here’s the YouTube instruction video.

It turns out that - Happybikes.co.uk - is still in business and selling on ebay as well as their website. It's about $ 91.00 with shipping and and looks like 3 weeks shipping time. ( I bet it's faster but they show 3 weeks on the ebay site)
