Old problem new post. I'm 70 and 6'5 and all the abnormal old man issues. Looked for a long time now for a way to put cruising foot rests out front. I do not want to have to remove or cut up the lower front plastic frame covers. Or have them be an issue with cornering. Fold up when not in use would be fine. Years past searches yielded nothing.

Had some years ago on an 850 special I really liked but it had a front cage they could mount to and flip up out of the way.

Looking for: ideas, suggestions, pictures, smart answers, $100.00 bills....

Thanks either way.

Once I took those plastic crash bar covers off, they never went back on. The crash bars are useful. The covers are not.

I have had them off and wouldn't mind if I knew of foot rest that would be sturdy and attach and not look like the mobile home park they came from. My feet at cruise would be aprox 2" past them. So would want some off set and fold up. Just haven't seen any if I moded some it wouldn't be pretty.

If you seriously do not want to remove or cut the plastic covers, good luck.

I don't see how forward pegs can be mounted without cutting or drilling any plastic. The "wing" covers are the cheapest and easiest to replace.

The least obtrusive mount for the forward pegs I've ever seen was for Steed Sticks. They fold up under the "wings". Good luck finding a set! I don't think any have been made/sold for 20 years. They are/were the most forward of the different styles of forward/highway pegs that I have seen. I've been riding 1100s since '99.

There were also Highway Wings which I have which fold nicely back into the cover.
They have been out of production for a real long time.

I was thinking that PSR(?) was making something similar for the ST1100 but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the link. It led me through eventually 3 links and found one kemi moto I'll look into and see if it would adjust to my needs.

I like these in that they are not as obtrusive.

I see psr has that model fold out for the 1300 but haven't found them either for 1100 yet. But thanks I'll keep looking.

They did. I have a pair on my '01 1100, bought back when they sold them.

I called them a couple of years ago. They had not one piece or part left.

Theirs are the only ones I ever found that place the feet forward and low enough.

Although they require removing or cutting the covers and aren’t integrated into the covers when folded-up, I liked the design of Mick-O-Pegs. These would swing downward and forward when deployed. They are spring loaded to return to their upper position to keep from dragging in sharp curves.

Check out their website: https://www.ridingiswonderful.com/

The Highway Wings are a slick product, but probably not available and also not adjustable.

I got these for my 2019 Tracer GT. They come in 22mm and 25mm. I've no idea what diameter the tubing is under the plastic covers. It might work for you. Mine attached to my GIVI crash bars.

The thing about highway pegs, for me at least, it that you really don't know how they "fit" until you're hours into a trip. I installed and adjusted mine based in the garage at home, but also brought along the tools to adjust them on the road, which I did several times to fine tune their positioning.

I have knee cramps on trips with the 1100. The fold out wings didn't help much, 'til I realized I could use them as 'heel rests' which works perfectly.
No serious knee issues on the 1300. I'm not sure why not as the footrest layout looks similar to the 1100's.

What I found myself doing on by ST1100s is resting the toes of my boots on top of the extended wings with my heels on the flat top of the tipover covers.
This allows my elbows to rest easily on top of my legs - a pretty comfy position. ;)

I’m thinking that I will remount my Mick-O-Pegs if I can replace the retraction springs with stronger ones. The stronger springs would cause the swing down footrests to snap back faster for turns.
