What is this part on the fuel pump assy? My fuel pump recently failed and when I pulled the assy, i caught the wire on this and pulled it out. I don't want to spend the money on the full assembly when I can replace a couple pieces for a whole lot less money. Searching the forums I find a lot of info on the pump itself, but not of what this is. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

What is this part on the fuel pump assy? My fuel pump recently failed and when I pulled the assy, i caught the wire on this and pulled it out. Thermistor that lights the yellow LOW FUEL Light in the dash light bar.
BTW, that appears to be an aftermarket fuel pump on the stalk.
Most of them put out too much pressure and need a fuel regulator so you don't overrun the carbs.
A quick way to know if there is too much pressure is the ST1100 will fire right up without the choke (fuel enricher) on a cold morning.
Or getting hold of a pressure gauge and measure it (about 1 1/2-2 1/2 lbs is plenty).
