Happy November Saturday!
Thanks Dave for a lovely cuppa and vittles!
And of course for the GREAT funnies - I look forward to them!

Rain on the plain here in Paradise.
Yesterday's wind and milky skies were the harbinger alright!
Nice and gentle - not the nasty stuff - I can hear the grass being all happy and such.

Yesterday was truly a mixed bag; My friend brought a kickstand bracket over for me to weld.
He'd just bought a Beta trials bike and is all excited. If you've never tried Trial Biking - it's very cool.
After that two other friends were taking down a mess of large conifers that were half-dead and ready to fall on some communication lines.
Yeah - I jumped in there and gave them a hand. Who doesn't LOVE the sound of chainsaws?!

What with the rain today, I think we've got indoor activities - hmmm, not sure what that looks like yet.
Maybe I'll get those lights installed on the RTV!

Y'all have a winderfill day!

@ST1100Y consider one of these for the next visit!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee Dave. Enjoy your ride. Martin, it's time to take that child aside and quietly but firmly read her the Riot Act. Let her know, in no uncertain terms, that her behavior is rude, inconsiderate, impolite, and unacceptable. Threaten to remove the heads from all her dolls if she persists.

It's 45°F and clear in Rockville, but apparently feels like 38 which suggests that yesterday's breezy conditions have persisted overnight. Too dark out for me to tell by looking out the window. Sun and a high of 62 could be in the future for today.

Also in the day's plan is a trip to Lowe's for a sheet of plywood. Mrs. Fun wants me to "fix" the sofa hide-a-bed to make it less uncomfortable. As with all such contraptions, the mattress isn't thick / firm enough to fully shield the occupants from the metal frame members, and of course it sags at the key hinge lines. My plan is to mitigate those sags by inserting said plywood between the frame and the mattress.

Also on the cards is an attempt to repair our inflatable bed / mattress, which evidently suffered a very slight puncture at the hands (paws) of one of the cats, some time ago. It's a slow leak, which will make it difficult to find.

Finally, I may venture out with the leaf blower for the first in the annual series of leaf blowing episodes for this year. Each year it takes two or three episodes to get the yard cleaned off then keep it that way, because the mix of tree species in the neighborhood drop their leaves at different times. The oaks are the last ones to go, clinging tenaciously to much of their brown, dead foliage until mid-late December- long after the last collection by the City's vacuum trucks, so they have to be bagged for collection. At the moment, though, it's enough to blow them to the curb and pile them there; the sucker-upper trucks still owe me one more week of collections, sometime in the coming weeks.

What I'm not going to do is the thing I'd been planning to do for most of the week: join friends on a 30 mile bicycle ride organized by the local cycling advocacy group. The Italian crud has raised a last (I hope) stand, and although it's a relatively feeble attack it's enough that I don't think biking is prudent.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Thx Dave, good coffee and even better funnies!
Enjoy your ride!

Martin, I sooth for you…..
At last nights «party» my inlaws went to the toilet with some assistance, as they came back to the dinner table starting eating, Mrs Stu came running with some wet vipes and told them to always wash their hands after a toilet visit…(they are 80 and 82 years)….I kept focusing on the vine.

I had a good time with the husband of Mrs Stus’ sister. He’s a really nice feller!

Today is a repeat…..but I’ve been for a walk, and that felt good.

10˚c/50f, calm, overcast.

Have a good one, and please wash your hands!
Stu

Thrust me, I'm all in... there is a basement after all...

Martin, it's time to take that child aside and quietly but firmly read her the Riot Act. Let her know, in no uncertain terms, that her behavior is rude, inconsiderate, impolite, and unacceptable. Threaten to remove the heads from all her dolls if she persists.
I'm already the old, mean uncle who says "NO!" to pretty much all and everything... (read: I keep quiet unless there is imminent danger to the child's health and life and/or not stopping her will lead to noticeable material/financial damage to the building and premises...)

Its a spoiled, ill-mannered, ego-manic, permanent attention seeking, prepubertal, single-child-household, 6 year old "princess" who's mom is in her mid 20ies... useless, you can't teach her what isn't enforced at home... which is pretty much nothing, nu rules, no limits, nadda...
Things like raiding the fridge to loot whatever she just feels like without even asking, leaving all packing's and the door open in the process are things I do frown about... slamming doors or just leaving them fully open is general a favorite sports of her...

<rant over>

after putting the grim reaper and his friend the pumpkin back into storage, I shut down the irrigation pump, blew compressed air through all lines, emptied the solar shower... winter is dawning, WX tells like 0°C for the night, morning temps not higher as 2~3°C with daytime highs not more then 12°C for the entire week... one can almost smell the dawning winter in the air...

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the wake up juice, Dave.

Currently, a very dark 48 degrees. The high should be a partly cloudy 73. Sounds ‘bout right for this time of year. Didn’t get much done yesterday. Thursdays rain gave my arthritis fits, to the point that walking down 3 steps was torture on my knees.

Today will consist of peeling and drying apples in the dehydrator that arrived last night at 10:30 PM. Of course, the delivery driver set off the alarm on the the security cameras, which in turn set off the guard dog, Teddy didn’t sleep well afterwards, being denied the chance to chase the driver down the driveway. He kept getting up to look out the back door, constantly looking for another reason to bark. Yeah, like he needs a reason.

Don't mince words, Martin: tell us what you REALLY think... ;)

I'm of the belief that children are quite capable of learning that there ARE limits in certain circumstances, even if they're not enforced at home. Set the limits in YOUR territory (yeah I know it's ze GF's territory, but the child will equate that with you if you're there enough) and let the brat know who's the boss. You might be surprised at the difference it makes.

Set the limits in YOUR territory (yeah I know it's ze GF's territory...
Bless your naivety... :roflmao:
As you said ze GF's territory, hence always a balancing act, raising an eyebrow, rolling your eyes, or demanding to stop kicking the backrest of the car-seat can escalate rather quick... ;)
I'm not a blood relative, thus keeping a low profile... if possible... it are a couple of weekends a year... I just see that it doesn't get out of hand, like every weekend...

Thanks for the coffee Dave, Green Mountain is a good choice.

50- something now, cloudy, going to near 80. No more rain till tomorrow.

Replaced a thermostat upstairs this week, it wouldn't work after I replaced the batteries. Roz called an HVAC company to come check it out, he said the charge was $488, and when I asked what the problem was he said he replaced the thermostat. (Roz was home, she called me and i talked to him while I was at work.)

Told him to take it with him and we would pay his trip charge, and i ordered the identical t-stat for $77 on Amazon and plugged it in.

Come to find out, this company is padding their service charges because the new owner bought the business and paid too much, so he's trying to recoup some of his inflated purchase price. Now we know who NOT to call. 500 bucks to simply plug in an 80 dollar thermostat... it's a good thing I wasn't here when he came.

Nothing else much happening here, so I'll find something i don't have to do today.

Hope y'all are enjoying your fall. And resetting all your clocks. Pfffttt.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start, Dave.

It's 48 and clear in MA this morning, rising to 55, later.

We spent yesterday with a visit to the range, after dropping Freya off at her pet hotel. We brought the guns back home, and then had a nice visit with our Son, DIL, and Elouise. We also found out that she'll be a big sister to her BROTHER! She'll not quite be two, when he arrives. she's at the end of her first trimester, and they'll make a general announcement after her next ob-gyn visit. So, you heard it here, first!
Her parents may be in the market for one of the items that were suggested to @ST1100Y!

We slept late, since the cat is taken care of.
When I stopped at the office for coffee, I met a couple who are on their way to Florida by motorcycle. Had a brief but nice talk. They're on what looks like a Sprint-ST and a Versis 1000.

Once Brenda gets ready, we'll pick up Freya, and head over to the house
Did I mention that the spray-foaming is complete?

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all, and thanks for the coffee, Dave.

I'm still confused though... the 1st Saturday in November is actually the 2nd....

No matter, it's all good.

As for Keith's issues with the cat-ress, it's always an ongoing issue with inflation!

2C and sunny, headed to 7C for the high. Going looking at used vehicles with Thing1 today as he needs a new one by tomorrow. Nothing like leaving it to the wire. If it all goes South for him Mrs. Obo and I have a backup plan. Give him my 2017 Sportwagen and I'll go by a new GTI or Golf R to replace it. Yes, it may be a mid life crisis, but I'm OK with that. A new car is a new car, and better than a new to me car.

Hopefully, each of you, and all those you know, love and tolerate, have a great day too.

Obo.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the brew and giggles, Dave! Hope you're having a great ride!

And there it is, quite suddenly. November. We have grey, overcast skies this morning, with a very Novemberish temp of 3°C/37°F, which feels more like 1°C/34°F. We may see the sun peeking out here and there during the day, but the high will get no higher than 7°C/45°F (with a windchill of 5°C/41°F).
Tomorrow will be even cooler, so I'm going to have to figure out which layers to wear for tomorrow's walk with my hiking club.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe, go safely, and steer clear of ill-behaved little urchins from Hades.

good morning all. thanks for the coffee Dave. 50F with a nice cloudless sky full of stars to enjoy as we walked along.

dog #1 didn't do well in hunting for rats yesterday up in Coolidge. she ran out of time before she found any. I believe she has her signed up for another run at it on Sunday.
the high should be 77F so I might take a ride this afternoon. enjoy the day

stay safe

Thanks for the fuel-up! Been a while since I've been in here, too crazy-busy but things are finally settling down at cheź McCright. A brisk November morning here in SoMD. Getting some INside stuff done while it warms up a bit to get stuff OUTside done. Doing some 3d design work, then out to change the oil in the wife's car and ship out some ST1100 fairings to swap for some in my color.

It's taken 6 years after my accident to find the right color for my burgundy 2000. All this time I've had black ones. Didn't look terrible, and tbh when I told the wife about this swap, she didn't even know it had different colors...and she parks right next to it in the garage every day! But it always bugged me, so I patiently waited until I chatted with a guy parting out a ST, asked if he had any, and boom! It'll cost me about $150 to ship but it'll finally be done. The only scar remaining from that accident will be a scraped up LH pannier.

So yep, instead of riding in this gorgeous weather we've been having, I have to look forward to having a mono-color bike once again. Y'all have a good day, ride safe and watch out for fallen leaf patches!

Morning Dave & All , from a gloomy morning in Southern Utah!

Currently, overcast with a slight breeze and a temp of 44F, heading for a high of 51F. Rain/snow on the way for later tonight and into tomorrow. Also the winds will pick up from the SW @ 15 to 20mph.

Other than Wal upon the mart yesterday, nothing was done since it was still too muddy to drive the tractor to dump more gravel in the new shed pad area. I'm hoping I'll get that done today, and put in my electrical conduit under the deck and where I can get to it, once the shed goes up.

According to the weather guessers, most of the month of November will be cold and wet. We'll see.

Chris is still asleep, so no breakfast yet, but a Pepsi or two will be had at some point today! ;)

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
