I can't believe I'm putting this out there but I cannot find any information in the Climer Manual regarding gearbox fluid type, capacity where to drain or fill??? Let me know if anyone point me in the right direction. As I said, I've searched the manual, internet and Youtube with no luck.

The St1100 does not have separate gear oil from the engine oil. The engine and gearbox share a common oil supply. The engine oil lubricates the gearbox. The final drive at the wheel does have its own lubricant.

That's what I figured but wasn't for sure. Thank you and you saved the day!

Which is why, Steve, you should always use an oil rated for such use, and change it when recommended. The pressure exerted by the gears actually physically damages the oil molecules in a way standard engine use does not.

You can do better than that Larry! What oil would you recommend?

As others have said it's in the engine BUT. You may want to lube the Heim joints down below the engine on the shifter mechanism.

This is why I was searching high and low for any information in regards to gearbox lubricants for the st1100. Do you know it there is a proven synthetic alternative engine oil for this bike?

I personally use Mobil 1 in all my equipment. Accordng to data, it's also the best oil in a wet clutch engine.

Just be careful of the diesel oil heads here that will try to woo you over to the Rotella dark side .:woohoo::potstir1:
No way... gotta go with Delo400 15W-40... more horsepower, more torque and better traction! Plus, you lose weight, grow hair and get better looking when it gets on your hands... be sure to rub it in good! ;)

Oil threads are like saying,"Don't think of pink elephants" - no matter what is said you just can't help yourself.
Redline synthetic motorcycle oil is the best bar none!!!!
