Running great. I've owned this bike for about 10,000 miles now, and in that time I've done the following:

- Regular oil changes at about 2000 miles... sometimes with pure synthetic (Rotella), sometimes with a blend (Honda mcy oil), most recently with Quaker State because they had it at Meyer.
- New ME Z6 Metzler tires, almost time for a new set
- Final drive oil, because it seemed like a good idea at the time.

and that's about it. I know I should do some things like a flush and fill on the clutch and brake fluid, air filter, fuel filter, etc, but during the summer I'd rather just ride, and last winter we were buying a new house.

So, tell me your stories. I want to hear how great your ST 1100 is, just so that I know I'm not alone and in good company.

My 93, which recently surpassed 100K, is running well! For her "anniversary", she got new STorms, Ft and RR wheel bearings, steering stem tapered bearings, rear brake pads and a few other misc fixes and such. Valves were checked at 75K, along with timing belt changed and some hoses replaced (by PO)

Need to change brake/clutch fluid and lube throttle cables, sync the carbs, too.

I've added an Autocom and an iWay500c.

I love this bike!

My 97 is running excellent as always. It has about 63,000 miles on it and the only breakdown was a headlight. :03biker:

My '95 has 93k miles on it of which 58k were mine. Has taken me to four WeSTocs. I upgraded the alternator soon after getting it. First major problem was the cracked coolant overflow hose, which I repaired in the parking lot at a WeSToc four years ago. This year, my radiator cap failed and caused the coolant to boil over, again, on the way to WeSToc. Replaced it with an aftermarket one at the local auto parts store, and it works fine. A few years ago, I replaced all the coolant hoses. I checked the valve clearances, replaced some shims, but failed to get one cam in proper seating and sheared off several teeth (can't really blame the bike on that one). I rode it hard through the mountains, and the heat of the Great Plains, and it doesn't complain at all. Did run into carb icing this trip. Interesting phenomenon. Easily treated by letting it sit for a couple minutes. This winter will get the steering head bearings (although it seems to steer just fine). It's a keeper.

Why would you change oil with pure synthetic at 2000 miles? talk about overkill...I change at 5000 unless I use synthetic, then 7000. Hell, the manual calls for 7500 with dino oil.

Hey! Doc.

You gots an award comming. Just like one of the one's in Arnies box right above your post....50,000 miles on one ST!

Gotta let Joe know, and he's out galavanting around the country....

ScouT is a '99 and has been running pure.

I've had one minor electrical glitch, which I wrote up here - it was a stripped battery terminal bolt probably done during the original setup. Cost zero to fix, as the local dealer gave me one from the odd fasteners pile. Also, one minor coolant leak (really just a drip), which was due to a slightly loose hose clamp.

Picked her up 2 years ago with 1,500 miles on it and am now pushing 19K. She has taken me all the way to the Pacific and back, with no carburetor problems in the mountains.

People can't believe it is almost a 10-year old machine. Me either.
This winter I'm up for new skins, and some other routine maintenance.

A perfect bike for me.
