the big ride 2020

i took a few more pic's at the lock and dam before heading back to RT 60. once in McConnelsville i crossed the bridge and made a right turn on River road, it runs north just like RT-60 so i followed it into Zanesville where River road ends and where the triple nickel starts only it heads south and i was heading north so i crossed the bridge and made a left turn to get back on RT-60 20200907_083918.jpg20200907_083938.jpg20200907_084007.jpg20200907_084016.jpg20200907_084104.jpg

RT-60 is just a two lane highway which i find very enjoyable to ride, this was my third trip on RT-60. there were a couple cars ahead of me and even though i was only doing 60mph i starting to catch up with them and then i found out why. some guy on a Harley out doing 45mph, i passed them all and made a stop in Blue Rock, Oh. for a few pic's 20200907_090709.jpg20200907_090721.jpg20200907_084649.jpg

one thing i like about RT-60 is in some places the road is streight, some parts have sweeping curves, some parts have hills to climb and descend, some parts have tight curves, and some have it all. after a few pic's in Duncan Falls the road gets a bit curvy, even on a wing its posable to ride it well above the speed limit an leave any cage or catch up with any cage in eyesight. i caught up with a tintop along the route but it was ok and felt good to slow my pace

Northgate church is on one of those streight sections of the route that leads into a sweeping curve the takes you in to Warsaw, Oh. 20200907_100307.jpg20200907_100325.jpg20200907_103017.jpg20200907_103405.jpg20200907_103420.jpg

my next stop was the general store that i spotted in Big Prairie, too bad they were closed cause it looked like a nice place to stop for wine tasting and lunch 20200907_111124.jpg20200907_111135.jpg20200907_111300.jpg

well the good times were about to end as i got near Ashland, Oh. up ahead the sky was dark and gloomy so i pulled over in the driveway of the Ashland country club and put on rain gear, about 3/4 of a mile down the road it came down HARD !! i could barely see the cage in front of me so i took refuge at a gas station. the rain was coming down so hard that i just sat under the canopy that covers the pumps for awhile 20200907_115405.jpg20200907_115420.jpg20200907_121246.jpg20200907_121257.jpg20200907_121308.jpg

the rain slowed enough that i felt safe to get back on the road, it was still raining pretty good so i adjusted the windshield to make the wind blast the rain off the windshield so i could have a better view of the road. i picked up us-250 then us 20 going west, there was a lot of standing water on the rode in Monroeville. i hit one so hard that my left foot was swept off the peg and my right pant leg rode up my leg enough that water got in my boots. as i reached Fremont, Oh. the rain finally started to subside but there was still too much rain to stop for pic's

on the west end of Woodville i picked up Oh-420 and took it over to I-280 then picked up I-75 going north. i made a stop at the Michigan welcome center for a bathroom break. while there i decided to have some lunch so i grabbed my soft side cooler out of the left side bag went over to a picnic table and had a bite to eat. while trying to close the zipper on the cooler bag i dropped the sausage i was eating, the sky still wasn't looking all that good so i took the dropped sausage as a sign to get my butt back on the road 20200907_142242.jpg

well i got back on I-75 only to see traffic backed up a half mile ahead of me, good thing the LaPlaisance road exit was before the back up cause thats where i exited the expressway. i headed over to Monroe, MI then took 6th street over to Dixie hwy. then merged on to us-24 heading north. i stopped along the way and got gas after 284 miles i was only showing two bars on the gauge. i picked up I-275 north took it to I-94 taking it east then m-39 north, those pesky Allen park LEO's were still out in force but i made it by without getting pulled over. at 15:40 i arrived home, a little soggy but home

thank you for the report, looks like it was really nice ride)
btw, what for is that cask-shaped canister on the place of the top box? For extra gas, water or something?
