Had a couple of days off and hoped the winds will day down but it did not happen . So yesterday (Feb 10) I left home (Moorpark CA) at 9:00 with the intent of visiting Joshua Tree and be back for dinner.
The ride was 455.8 miles form door to door. I entered at the west entrance (Joshua Tree) and exited on I10 at cottonwood. I visited this park many times with family but wanted to do this with a bike in a long time so yesterday this task was accomplished.
Unfortunately it was windy but all in all a good day I stopped once in may way to the park to fill up the and once just 16 miles before home to fill up again. (The remaining miles went blank but only took 6.7 galloons so probably could of make it home - did not wanted to to risk it...).
Ride was uneventful one close call on the I10 in the way there a truck (16 wheeler) almost run over but probably was as much my fault a his as most likely I was in his blind spot - (however freeway was going 70+ so did not really se the reason why that truck needed to change lines suddenly ...)
I almost dropped the bike in the park at one stop which was not paved, foot slipped but I hold it up it took all my power :bow1: - hearth rate probably rose exponentially..
Two pictures from many I took..
Left at 9:00 was home just before 6:00 pm., bike stock: with GPS, . heated grips and wired for heated gear. I got 50.1 mpg which was a surprise given the windy situation and the fact that I-10 was 70-90 in most places .
(first time uploading photos.. wil work on better ones later...)
