Morning all, and thanks Peter, for the coffee. Sorry to hear about the knee.

-3C here and clear-ish under dark skies. Roads are slippery where the salt trucks haven't been. Should see +5 and showers later on.

I may have figured out why the vegan didn't like @Peppermint when they were first introduced. I think it was the phrase "meet Patty."

Enjoy!

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the French roast Peter. Whatever store put their brand on it, keep going back to- the coffee's good.

I may have figured out why the vegan didn't like @Peppermint when they were first introduced. I think it was the phrase "meet Patty."

That also explains why the vegan thought my name was "Head", because he overheard someone call me "meathead" and mistook it for an introduction.

It's 40°F and cloudy in Rockville. We'll stay cloudy all day as the temperature rises to about 70, and there's a chance of showers this evening beginning around 1800 hours.

Goof is the main agenda item for the day, supplemented by uke practice and, if I can make the time, a visit to the bank to find out what I can about the trust for my kid sister. My recently departed brother was trustee, and that will now fall to me, so I need to confirm whether it's got an autopay set up. I can't get my name on it yet because I don't have the death certificate or updated trust documents naming me as trustee, but I hope I can at least ensure that payments will flow smoothly and uninterrupted. Apparently, establishing the automatic payments was something he did just weeks before he passed, after years of manually initiating them.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, because tomorrow may be too late.

good morning all. thanks for the coffee Peter. 61F on the dog walk with a cloudless sky that the stars filled up nicely for viewing as I walked.
have gym class this morning and nothing for the afternoon. high temp should be 84F. enjoy the day

stay safe

G'Day,

9°/12°C today, morning was sunny, now overcast, WX for the w/e: rain...
Yep, the April monsoons are moving in... gonna piss till Monday eve...
OTOH will the roads get cleaner and nature can use some precipitation...

GF likes the Daytona Lady boots, the added/raised heel does indeed improve her footing while stationary...
I will however have to a) treat the leather again as the ankles are still kinda stiff, b) adjust the shift lever a little higher...

Since the leather stitching kit arrived (nice!) I plan to fix my Bagster tank bra, attend some minor things and hope that the rains takes a break to get the '00 ST home from the shed...
the '94 ST is already waiting to get the mysterious valve train noise diagnosed and fixed...

office, already busy, like the quotation for the airport pier: 21 systems, total volume exceeding € 700,000,-...
Sometimes the sums are mind boggling... multi room split a/c for a residential home: € 16K...
OTOH looking at what 'Mansions' some folks build you'd grow the impression that money has been abolished...
2 storey, 9 rooms, 2 car garage, car-port for another 4 vehicles... pfffff...

enjoy your weekends, wherever you are!

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Peter! I hope the knee quickly gets used to the new exercises and comes out better and stronger than ever.

It's cloudy today, and colder. -4°C/25°F with a feels-like of -11°C/12°F now, 0°C/32°F with a windchill of -4°C/25°F later. We're under a "Special Weather Statement" for the rest of the weekend; apparently, we're getting a "significant" amount of snow tomorrow, followed by another system that will bring freezing rain, ice pellets and rain on Sunday. It's going to be messy.

As for my name, I'm usually called "Patricia" in French and "Patty" in English, as "Patty" doesn't roll off the tongue very well in French and when said in a particularly broad, Québécois accent, sounds more like "pâté." Growing up in a small (well, small at the time - it isn't so small anymore) French-speaking town, I spoke French everywhere but at home; all my friends and schoolmates were French-speaking and spoke no English. My family always referred to me as "Patty" and my friends spent a lot of time at my house, so that's what they called me as well, only it sounded like "Pâté," so my nickname became "Pâté Chinois." @Andrew Shadow will understand and get a chuckle out of that one.
For the rest of you - "pâté chinois," which literally translates as "Chinese pie" (why "Chinese," I haven't a clue), is a dish often eaten in large, working class families because it's cheap to make and feeds a lot of people. It's essentially ground beef and onions layered with creamed corn and niblets, topped with a thick layer of mashed potatoes and then baked in the oven until the spuds brown. It's actually quite good!

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Yippee Ay Yay Cow Patty

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the cup, Peter.

I slept later this morning, after tossing and turning from midnight until sometime after 2 AM. Yesterday’s work on the buried electrical feed to the garage took its toll on my knees and hips, which oddly didn’t hurt until midnight. Pffftt.

A beautiful blue-sky morning at 55 F, which will warm up to 75 by mid-afternoon. After a little shovel and rake work to cover the electrical line, I believe that Teddy and I are going to take a short ride.

G'mornin' y'all! Been a few days, no thanks to the RTO rules. I'm getting the hang of negotiating/fighting/ignoring the other commuting a$$h@ts, to get in at a reasonable time. Next week will be different yet again since yesterday was the first formal day back for all CIV/MIL. So, here come more traffic pattern changes.

It's a cloudy 45F/7C and quite humid. Some chance of rain later. Glad I scalped most of the front lawn yesterday while it was dry. I'll just say that while I love my battery-powered mower, it does NOT like scalping duty. I'll drag the gas mower out to do the rest. Otherwise, a regular workday along with some online coursework to get smarter. Then, who knows? Whatever my ADD brain decides to latch onto.... Take care y'all!

Good morning, Awake at 5 am , ok out of bed, working on the awake part, need more coffee . Plan for today is work on Trailer plumbing at Birch Bay, Washington USA . Vacation spot is turning out to be more work than vacation, . One question people ask me a lot is do I like fixing cars and bikes, because I'm good at it, honestly I hate fixing stuff. I just wanted my stuff to work right. Some day maybe my wife will get the message a stop buying Stuff that needs fixing. Rant over.
Weather 8 C cloudy,wet, windy, basically ugly.
Have a good day Y'all,G

Morning Peter & All from cloudy skies & :wind1: , Southern Utah!

Currently it is 55F and heading for 58F with clouds & winds for the day. The winds are blowing from the SSW @ 12 to 29mph.

... do I like fixing cars and bikes, because I'm good at it, honestly I hate fixing stuff. I just wanted my stuff to work right.

I'm right there with you!

Yesterday, I was able to clean out the truck, from the trip, and even get some laundry done. Today, my 1st priority is to get my taxes sent off. After that, we'll see.

Eggs, sausage, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) to come later.

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

(why "Chinese," I haven't a clue)
I'm pretty sure that it was the fantastic Pierre Burton books The National Dream and The Last Spike, that were later turned in to a great series of documentaries on the building the Canadian Pacific Railway, where it is claimed that the term Pate Chinois came from the work camps during the building of the CPR. All of the people in charge of building the railway were either British or Scottish, or first generation Canadians of that extraction. In most of the work camps the cooks were Chinese brought over as labourers to help in the building of the railway. The British and Scottish bosses instructed the Chinese cooks to make Shepherd's Pie. All of the French speaking people from Quebec who were working in these camps, and there were many, had no familiarity with Shepherd's Pie as it was not a dish that the French ate. Because it was new to them they called it pâté chinois thinking that it was a Chinese dish. The Chinese cooks had to modify the recipe based on the ingredients that were available to them in the camps. The version that the Chinese cooks made is what the French Quebecers took back with them when they returned to Quebec, which is why there are differences between Shepherd's Pie and the Quebec pâté chinois.
