My 2000 ST windshield has a chunk out of it, as I'm nearing wrapping up my mechanical once over, I'm looking for a replacement. I measured it at 20" tall. For some reason, I'm skeptical of the eBay windshield. The are windshields on David Silver spares for around $90, and Rifle windshields are a much different shape from DSS and run at $135.
Has anybody had experience with either of these?, Please feel free to give me your two cents and suggestions.

Many here have gone to an aftermarket screen for better wind protection. I can't speak to any specific brand being better than others though.

There's more than a few threads already about options....

Edit: these are for the ST1300 and not the ST1100 as I didn't notice the OP's bike is a 2000 model and thus an ST1100.

Thinking of replacing the Honda windscreen on my st1300 | ST1300-Windshield

I am contemplating replacing the stock windscreen on my st1300. I hope that I can get help from some of you fellow st owners as to what they feel would be the best aftermarket choice to reduce wind noise and back pressure.

I had a Clearview wind screen on my ST 1100 and loved it. I want to get another Clearview for my new ST 1300. Because it's adjustable, I don't know whether to get the small or medium size. I am 5 foot 9, and like the option of seeing through at the top position. Any guidance would be...

You can spend hours trying to compare brand against brand, and then which model/style/size within one brand.

Thanks, when I searched "windshield" these searches didn't come up, and I was surprised that the search turned up such sparse results. I'll check it out!
 
Mine came with a Clearview. I have nothing good or bad to say about it, but what I'd suggest is to give some thought to sizing. I've seen rules of thumb like eyes an inch above the upper edge, and with mine it's noticeably different in noise between a Corbin and a reworked stock seat just based on an inch or so of extra saddle height. Probably just muddying the waters here, but something to consider since you're not required to buy the same size shield as a replacement. Actually, I do like the broader coverage of the Clearview over what the stock seems to offer.

The Rifle shield for the 1100 is narrower than the Clearview. I've had a Rifle and it allowed more wind buffeting on the arms and there is less dead air space for your helmet, if moving your head side to side. I switched to a Clearview years ago and it is definitely superior to the Rifle shield.

Thanks much for that. I am now looking at the clearviews also. However, this is the first motorcycle iv'e had with a windshield, and I haven't even put a half mile on the bike or have gone over 30mph yet :rolleyes:

That was me in August. On cool/wet/damp days you'll wonder why you waited this long. I also think I'd like to get s shorty for summer. Unless I go up or down the coast, one must cross the valley to get to the mountains. The heat is substantial, and if feels like no airflow with the Clearview.

Check out the MRA, you can run without the top section.
Just sayin.

Any thoughts on experimenting with the broken one? ie. shortening it up significantly to make a warm weather alternative. Providing the missing chunk is in a place that you can remove of course.

I bought the clearview windshield. I love it. If u get a larger shield, make sure you pur a threaded nut in the frontmost windshield screw. The rubber one popped out on mine. I think the larger shield creats too much stress on the front plastic.
