Rain repellant for windshield

I've only used the normal rainx glass stuff on my cars and that works great on the cage's glass. I've never put anything on my visor or bike windscreens.
The trouble with MC stuff is depending on what type of plastic your windscreen (or visor) is made from the ideal formula of cleaner / repellent would differ. Some things that are good for one type of plastic are very bad for others.

I have not used the product listed above. It does however appear very expensive and made for helmet visors. Treating a large windshield with it seems costly. Especially so when you factor in multiple applications.

I tried applying Rain-x to a Clearview shield before. It was cloudy/hazy. NO amount of work could get it to clear up. So I never got to try it in the rain. Thankfully it cleaned off easily. Never again.

I think keeping the shield as clean as possible will help with rain build up and shedding. Use either Plexus or Novus. I just bought and used the Novus kit below to take out a few scuffs in my windshield. It looks like new again. Novus is what Clearview recommends. I can now see why. I'll be looking for a small spray bottle to fill up with the #1 liquid to replace my travel can of Plexus that stays on bike. Sorry to get off topic here and not really answer your question directly. Hope this helps tho.

I use the Harley polish ,cheap and sheds rain well . Cheapest thing to buy at the dealer when some friends go to shop .

I use fabric softener on the windshield. Might not help for aquaphobia, but sure smells nice.

Just don't wash it, then immediately go for a ride in the rain, with your helmet visor up.... I'm "told" that's a good way to get soap in your eye...

I ride all year in the in Seattle-Tacoma region of the Evergreen State. For about 9 months of the year, there is a good chance of riding in the rain.

I clean my windscreen and visor with Plexus and then treat both for water and rain with Nikwax Visor Proof. It works well at beading up the water and will last on the surface.

Plexus. Available on Amazon or better motorcycle product retailers. Causes water to bead and fly off, fills in minor swirls and scratches, can help restore yellowed acrylic shields, and dries clear. I won't use anything else.

I rode in heavy rain recently. My visibility was poor through my face shield and windshield. I am looking for a rain repellant for plastic. I see RAIN-X has a product for plastic that received poor reviews on this forum. Has anyone used this HNP product?

I always ride with the windshield all the way up (well, over about 55 mph). In the rain, I've not found anything that works consistently well. Once the rain gets on my visor, visiblity decreases even worse. I''ve found that by leaning to the left or right into the windstream, my visor is blown clear. Lowering the windshield and taking some water in the chest also solves this problem. I've tried plexus, rain-x and a wax/cleaner that is used on GA aircraft. The bottom line seems to be a decent windblast will clear the plastic - at least on my helmet's visor.

Do a search on this website for rain-x, plexus and read the other threads that have been posted. I wrote a bunch on rain-x a while ago. BTW, you must use rain-x for plastic - the stuff for glass will harm your windshield. I'm still trying to figure out a way to put a windshield wiper on the windscreen...but that's another project.

I've had a lot of experience with rain repellent on aircraft windshields. What I have learned over the years is that after rain repellant has been applied, it works great for the next flight, but becomes ineffective pretty quickly based on hours flown or, if the aircraft sits outside unused, the number of days that have passed since the repellant was applied.

So far as the motorcycle is concerned, I have found that inexpensive products such as Pledge furniture polish or Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish (mentioned above in post #10) work just as well as far more expensive products (including aircraft-spec products) for a day or two immediately after application, provided that the motorcycle is not subsequently washed with soap and water.

So, I just keep a small can of the Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish in the saddlebag, and if I am out riding and I think I am going to encounter rain, I clean the windshield using it before the rain starts to fall.

Bottom line: I don't think there is any product out there, at any price, that gives long-lasting repellent action.

There are aftermarket windshield wiper kits for Goldwings. I'm sure a smart person could figure out something.

I use the Honda Cleaner and Polish drtyrrel uses. Works as well as Plexus and much cheaper. How well does it repel water? Don't know. I won't ride in the rain. But I thought I'd post anyway. :rofl1:

I wax my windshield after every wash, keep a thick layer of wax on it and found that it works great. On trips I keep a bottle of F-11 or speed shine (I think all these products are about the same except for cost). I will clean off the bugs and apply a new layer of the product every night. My face shield gets done sometimes 2-3 times a day depending on conditions and bugs.
