Terry 'ACL' Hammond (11/19/2010)

As one of the Board Members, I agree!

Kreis
MLR Board of Regrets

I, as a board member who doesn't think he should be, agree. And all of us know he would kick, scream, and holler all the way to the podium to accept the award!!! Then he would spend the next 30 minutes telling us why so and so deserves the award more than he, all the while, wiping tears from his eyes!!!

I just recieved the news and I'm stunned. I never met Terry, but had decided to attend Moonshine to do so. His passing reminds us of our own mortality, and that it's the people we know that are important in life. I wish I could wrap my arms around all of us and take the grief and pain away. God speed Terry, I'll meet you on a better road someday.

I'm shocked at what I'm reading. :noway

I've never had the privilege of meeting Terry but feel like I knew him from his many posts here. What a loss. To say that he will be missed terribly is probably the understatement of all time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and many friends.

I just found out from Dana and am completely speechless.....

It's just such a huge loss to us all.

just completely speechless....

Terry,
You have touched so many. We're all better people because of you. RIP my friend!

Re: Terry 'ACL' Remembered

Terry's "get it" or "I get it" theme was a huge part of his life. He lived life until he "got it"....in all he had interest in. He had the greatest respect for all who didn't just talk about life....but lived it. TV, the electronic world...etc....has taken a lot of the living out of life. This part of Terry...the "I get it" part....is what I loved the most about the guy.

I'm riding this weekend. I'll put about 1500 miles on the bike....all with the pegs down. I've got a lot of effort to make while I'm alive. There are tons of things I still don't "get"....and the only way to really "get it" is to live life to the fullest.

Terry was a great mentor. :bow1:

Terry was one of the people I hoped to meet some day just reading his posts you felt you knew him. Rest in Peace and condolences to all his family

I just found out. I too am speechless. If it was not for Terry I am not sure I would have known Moonshine existed let alone gone there on many occasions.

We have indeed lost a true friend. RIP ACL!

Prayers and thoughts to the family and friends.

I din't know Terry, but he must have been a great guy, to say the least. My condolences to the family!

Don't know how I missed this. Always looked forward to his posts. Condolences to his family and loved ones.

Update: 11/20 - Services might be Mon/Tue 11/22-23 but the family has yet to meet w/funeral home. Once we know more and when a public service is planned we'll post something.

I was also told he was taking one of his tractors from the farm to the house in Casey when it happened. It appears when it happened it was very quick.

Re: Terry 'ACL' Remembered

Its 115 degrees, we have been running in the UT desert for two hours and Terry suddenly pulls off at a boat ramp. Being last in line (as normal) I get to the bottom and see Terry wading into Lake Powell in full gear, minus only his boots and gloves. Well the rest of us stripped down to minimal public acceptable and piled in too.

It was great, a bunch of grown men in the swimming hole laughing like fools.

Well, one person (Jay, of course) decides he just has to jump off a rock into the water and is quickly followed by everyone but me.

I watch as one after the other, they all jump off the rock, only one thing wrong, Terry is gonna do it wearing all his gear, helmet included. Now, you may not have thought of this, but I did. Helmets are made with styrofoam liners and that stuff floats.

I yelled at him to take the helmet off and Terry being Terry waved me off, I then yelled, at least hold onto the chinstrap and he did, and he lept...

Afterwards he confided that he and is helmet almost went opposite ways with his head attached when he hit the water but he still had a blast!

I always expected him to tell that story on himself with multiple capital letters, giant fonts and arbitrary statistics, but he never did...997.032% of the time.
