Suzuki's new Strom 800 - Competition for the new Transalp

Both appear to be very good motorcycles…….I would not buy either unless equipped with cruise and tubeless wheels.
A flat with a tubed tire can be the biggest PITA due to heat, rain, cold, dirt, etc. I can change any flat, but at this time in my life want tubeless tires on any new motorcycle purchase.
 
It is interesting that Honda is reporting that the new Transalpine weighs 208kg wet while Suzuki specs say the new VStrom weighs 230kg. Quite a difference.
 
The transalp is better looking. The suzuki has the mad mosquito look. However, the Vstrom could be the one to have more equipment such as cc.
 
It's not a proper V-Strom... Where's the oil filter offering to the rock gods? :rofl1:

270 degree P Twins are not my favorite power plant, even if they are all the rage these days. I've been riding one for the last year and a half and 21,000 miles and the " fake character" of a throbbing V twin is highly over rated imo. Accelerating at low rpms it feels like it's lugging even if its not. Not sure I would buy another 270 P Twin
 
I really like the 270deg engine in my Africa Twin. It has a nice growl to it but it is smooth. The parallel twin is also much more compact than a v engine. Also less expensive to manufacture.

I agree with you. I really liked my 03 Bonnie with the smoother 360 degree P twin than the current 270 degree engines.

Yea my 03 Bonnie had a much better feeling engine than my brother's 2016 Bonnie with the 270 degree engine...at least to me.
