ST1100 Cruise Control

Ok so I am looking for a simple cruise control for my 1100. I tend to like the end of bar style. Like to keep things simple and clean. Not looking to fabricate a Goldwing cruise on as I have heard of being done. Just looking for thoughts or experiences with these.
 
The cheapest is a rubber “O” ring that you slide between the throttle and bar end. Couple of dollars

You may want to differentiate between cruise control and throttle lock. There are several threads here on both devices.

A throttle lock suits my needs and the Go Cruise 2 is the epitome of simplicity convenience and efficiency. Vista Cruise and NEP also have their fans. And there are the O-Ringers as you've seen.
 
I've pretty well use them all over the years and now have the MCCruise (a bit expensive but excellent) on all of my ST1100s on the road.
As was said, are you looking for a throttle lock or a true electronic cruise control?
For throttle locks, Vista Cruise, NEP, Caterpillar O-Ring, and the high priced Break-Away.
For electronic, MCCruise, Audiovox, Rostra.

The challenge with the electronic for a ST1100 is the connection to the throttle pulley.
MCCruise has a CIU (cable interface unit) to deal with it, the other two you have to fab something up (plenty of documentation on the site).
But there is no comparison of a throttle lock to an electronic one if you deal with any elevation changes at all.
Locks are way cheaper and serve their purpose, just depends on your 'frequency' and reasons for use.
 
I probably at least for now thinking throttle lock. Thanks for the info. Care to explain the o-ring. Usually a sock puppets work best. Think I get the idea just want to be sure.
 
Just a heads up on the O ring, when throttle is locked in and you are used to having the throttle close on its own, you will keep going. Whereas with the throttle locks you just easily flick something.

With the o-ring, you just roll it off onto the bar weight like in the picture.
 
I never found it that 'restrictive' but then it probably depends on what type of grips you use and the size of the gap between the end of the grip and the weight.
I think that must be it. I have the BMW grips that fit the ST and found it took a few rolls to get thw O ring off and unto the weight.
