Article Trailer Isolation Relay

John have you been looking over my shoulder this past weekend?

I've just completed repairs to my GL1800 due to a failing pin within the connector for the tail lamp wire harness. Oh, yes it was the ground conductor!

Apparently the Honda engineers determined that a single ground conductor may be sufficient to carry the load of all the lamps at the back of the bike (6 tail, 4 brake, 2 signal, and 1 license), but missed that the pins in the connector were not capable of handling the current when all tail lamps are energized.

The solution was the same as the solution many ST1300 owners have used; bypass the offending connector, and splice in new conductors, and add a new connector rated at 15A.

With that lesson learned, I'm heeding your advice and have revised the isolation relay schematic.

Cheers, David aka Anna'sDad
